Job description

JOB SUMMARY
Under limited supervision, coordinates, designs, implement and manage and maintain monitoring solutions for the organization including server and cloud services monitoring. Onboard/configure all applications into the Dynatrace monitoring tool for use.
State Agency: Georgia Dept. of Transportation
Under limited supervision, coordinates, designs, and secures computer databases to store, track, and maintain a large volume of critical business information. Serves as highest advanced-level subject matter expert, providing authoritative guidance for professional staff. May also serve in a lead role.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to automate monitoring, troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, and research for Root Cause Analysis (RCA) across hybrid, multi-cloud, and microservices architectures.
This is for the INET Program.
Key Responsibilities
Monitoring & Observability
  • Configure, maintain, and optimize monitoring solutions using Dynatrace.
  • Enable end-to-end visibility across infrastructure, systems, and applications.
  • Develop dashboards, alerts, and health checks to ensure system health and reliability.
  • Monitor service performance and availability and set alert thresholds to minimize false positives.

Infrastructure Systems Monitoring
  • Monitor Windows/Linux servers, virtual environments, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Support monitoring of databases, middleware, and network components.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and cloud teams to identify trends and capacity needs.
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact production.

Application Monitoring
  • Use Dynatrace to monitor application performance and transaction flows.
  • Support synthetic monitoring and real user monitoring.
  • Work closely with application teams to ensure comprehensive monitoring coverage.
  • Assist in troubleshooting performance issues at both the application and system level.

Incident Support
  • Participate in incident response efforts related to performance and availability.
  • Provide monitoring insights during troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Identify and close monitoring gaps.

Continuous Improvement
  • Enhance monitoring standards and documentation.
  • Recommend improvements to monitoring configurations and alert strategies.
  • Support integration of monitoring tools with IT Service Management (ITSM) platforms.

Required Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.

Experience
  • 5+ years in systems engineering, infrastructure support, or monitoring roles.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Dynatrace or similar APM tools.

Technical Skills
  • Knowledge of Windows/Linux servers, virtualized environments (VMware), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Basic networking understanding (DNS, TCP/IP, load balancing).
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes or container monitoring.
  • Experience with ITIL practices and regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, financial services).
