Role Description

As a Managing Consultant on the Americas Gas & LNG Consulting team, you will play a key role in our growing consulting practice leading the management and delivery of a wide range of commercial and strategic consulting projects. You will be a front‑line leader involved in all aspects of the consulting process, from shaping the opportunity, performing the analysis, managing the project, and working closely with clients and Wood Mackenzie experts to develop insights to support critical client commercial and strategic decisions. You will sit within the Americas Gas & LNG consulting team leading a broad range of projects which could include strategy development, transaction support, commercial due diligence, market and opportunity screening, and competitiveness analysis. However, you will regularly work cross‑sector and engage with colleagues from across the regional and global organization. This role requires a high level of creative thinking, analytical and problem‑solving abilities, and the application of detailed knowledge and experience to a broad range of consulting projects and client situations. These capabilities must be accompanied by a strong command of oral and written communication skills in both internal as well as external and client‑facing environments. Additionally, outstanding team and project management capabilities, in a consulting context, are required for the purpose of this role. This role requires frequent engagement with senior client teams and occasional travel throughout the Americas region, spanning North America, Central America, the Caribbean, and South America. We welcome applicants with expertise across North America and Latin America.

Main Responsibilities
  • Bring a thorough and current understanding of Americas gas and LNG markets, within the context of market fundamentals, midstream infrastructure, pricing dynamics, and be able to effectively discuss recent events and implications with clients and colleagues
  • Act as Project Manager, coordinating and managing consulting projects by setting up a detailed project plan, story boarding, and working with a team to execute toward milestones
  • Lead and execute complex analysis of commodity markets and project economics, while leveraging industry research and expertise
  • Develop/use natural gas and LNG market fundamentals and pricing models, including working with large market datasets
  • Build and present compelling presentations conveying key messages and recommendations concisely for a senior audience
  • Support the creation and review of consulting proposals that create strategic insights for our clients and demonstrate the value of Wood Mackenzie
  • Actively engage in broader Consulting practice activities such as recruiting, training, and operational improvements
  • Build and maintain an internal network across consulting, research, and sales to deliver the best possible outcomes for our clients and Wood Mackenzie
  • Actively coach teammates, advancing the development of consulting skills and processes across the consulting practice
Knowledge & Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline such as business, economics, finance, statistics, or engineering; top tier master’s and/or MBA preferred
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in a management consulting or energy‑focused consulting role, or other strategic/commercial/analyst role related to gas, LNG or energy markets across the Americas. Industry experience is highly welcome but not required
  • Experience managing key project work flows and overall coordination of projects in a workstream manager role, directing junior colleagues’ workflows and communicating with clients/key stakeholders
  • Advanced data analytics and Excel skills
  • Strong understanding of natural gas within the context of the energy value chain, with exposure to transportation, sales/purchase and other commodity agreements
  • Strong understanding of key financial and commercial concepts, business models and strategies
  • Track record of quickly becoming knowledgeable and speaking credibly about a wide range of subjects and themes
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships with clients or senior stakeholders
