What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist) in Indiana, and why are they important?

To thrive as an LMFT in Indiana, you need a master's degree in marriage and family therapy or a related field, completion of supervised clinical experience, and state licensure. Familiarity with electronic health record systems, diagnostic tools like the DSM-5, and continuing education certifications is often required. Regular supervision, ongoing professional development, and teamwork with other mental health professionals help LMFTs manage these complexities effectively.
