Job Summary:

The Chief of Donor Engagement (CoDE) is responsible for the strategy, performance, and long-term sustainability of contributed revenue across Hope Media Group. This leader provides strategic oversight of the full donor lifecycle from initial engagement through legacy giving and ensures revenue strategy aligns with ministry impact and organizational priorities. 

The CoDE directly oversees Donor Experience, including Donor Care, Mid/Major Gifts, and Donor Communications; Partner Engagement; Catalyst Donors; Donor Operations; and the Planned Giving/Endowment program. The role is accountable for overall contributed revenue performance outside of on-air fundraising execution. 

As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Chief of Donor Engagement advances financial sustainability through disciplined revenue strategy & relational donor leadership. This role complements the President & CEO's visionary stewardship, the Chief Administrative Officer's internal optimization, and the Chief Impact Officer's leadership of external impact & mission advancement, ensuring alignment between vision, operational strength, revenue growth, & measurable ministry outcomes. 


Essential Functions:

 Donor Experience & Relationship Leadership  

  •  Provide executive oversight and integration of Donor Experience, Major Donors, Partner Engagement, Donor Operations, and the Planned Giving/Endowment Program to ensure cohesive strategy & performance across all donor-facing functions 
  • Set direction and accountability standards for portfolio management, pipeline development, and relationship strategy across donor segments 
  • Ensure organizational alignment and accountability for effective transition of newly acquired donors into long-term engagement and retention pathways 
  • Identify and elevate catalyst-level donors into the CEO portfolio, ensuring coordinated strategy, executive engagement preparation, and structured stewardship support 
  • Oversee the development and consistent application of stewardship practices that reinforce trust, transparency, and mission alignment 
  • Guide the strategy for donor engagement events and experiences, ensuring initiatives such as Hope Media Experience and Hope Ignited advance cultivation, stewardship, and revenue growth among major and catalyst-level donors 
  • Provide executive leadership to senior donor leaders, establishing strategic direction & accountability while preserving operational authority within each discipline 

 Contributed Revenue Strategy  

  •  Define and lead organizational strategy for maximizing contributed revenue across all donor segments and partnership channels 
  • Establish clear revenue goals and performance benchmarks tied to organizational growth objectives; partner with the Data Science team and Finance to strengthen forecasting capabilities and revenue modeling maturity 
  • Lead capital and strategic fundraising initiatives aligned with organizational priorities 
  • Evaluate and pursue new revenue opportunities that expand donor participation, diversify funding streams, and strengthen long-term financial sustainability 
  • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to align revenue strategy with annual organizational goals and ensure funding readiness for key initiatives 
  • Partner with the CEO on long-range revenue planning and major donor strategy 

 Executive Leadership & Organizational Integration   

  • Contribute to overall organizational strategy, ensuring contributed revenue plans are aligned with annual priorities and ministry objectives 
  • Partner with Content, Impact, Technology, and Finance leaders to ensure clarity of roles, effective collaboration, and alignment between donor engagement strategy and organizational initiatives 
  • Establish revenue performance expectations & accountability standards across donor functions 
  • Maintain executive-level accountability for departmental financial stewardship, ensuring resources are allocated in alignment with approved budgets and organizational priorities

Requirements

Education:

  •  Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred in business, nonprofit management, finance, communications, or a related field  


Experience: 

  • Ten or more years in senior-level fundraising, development, or revenue strategy leadership within nonprofit, ministry, or mission-driven organizations 
  • Demonstrated success leading multi-channel contributed revenue strategy, including major gifts and partnership development 
  • Track record of building and leading high-performing teams with clear accountability structures 
  • Ability to advance forecasting discipline in partnership with Finance and Data Science to inform strategic decision-making 
  • Effective collaboration within complex or matrixed organizational environments preferred 

Skills and Competencies: 

  • Strong executive presence with high emotional intelligence and relational leadership capability 
  • Ability to lead through influence across functions without direct authority 
  • Financial acumen with experience in revenue planning, performance accountability, and resource stewardship 
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate organizational priorities into sustainable revenue plans 
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage donors, executives, and internal stakeholders 
  • High degree of discretion and integrity in handling confidential donor and financial information
