Primary Purpose
The Madras Campus Streaming Support Technician provides on-site classroom and technical support for courses utilizing streaming technology. This position serves as the primary on-site liaison between students, instructors, the eLearning Department, and ITS, ensuring the smooth operation of classroom AV and streaming systems.
Streaming Technology
Streaming technology enables live classroom instruction to be delivered in real time between multiple COCC campus locations using classroom-installed cameras, microphones, and audiovisual equipment.
Due to the geographic distance from the Bend campus, where the primary support functions are located, this role is critical in providing timely, first-response troubleshooting for AV and streaming issues. This is an excellent opportunity for a customer-focused individual with an interest in educational technology. Comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided to familiarize the successful candidate with COCC's classroom AV and streaming systems, support procedures, and instructional technologies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Orient students to classroom procedures and streaming processes, including physical classroom logistics and use of streaming technology.
• Operate classroom computers, cameras, screens, microphones, and streaming technology to optimize the quality of instruction.
• Serve as the first point of contact for AV and streaming technology issues at the Madras Campus. Perform basic troubleshooting of projectors, displays, audio equipment, cameras, control panels, and streaming software.
• Record and troubleshoot issues that arise with the technology; document steps taken and outcomes, and escalate unresolved issues to eLearning and ITS with clear reports.
• Act as an on-site liaison between the Madras Campus and Bend-based eLearning and ITS departments; communicate proactively regarding recurring issues, equipment needs, and improvement opportunities.
• Distribute, collect, scan, and deliver class materials between students and instructor according to instructor's directions.
• Maintain communication with instructors and eLearning staff throughout the term.
• Other duties as assigned by classroom instructor, eLearning department staff, or ITS.

• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, faculty, staff, and individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and communicate technical AV and streaming problems in the classroom.
• Ability to work collaboratively with ITS staff, eLearning staff, Madras campus staff, students, faculty, and streaming class assistants at other campus locations.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and seek assistance when needed.
• Ability to use a computer (all Windows platforms), AV control systems, scanners, projection devices, and printers.
• Strong problem-solving skills; customer-centric approach and ability to remain calm under pressure.

Ergonomic Requirements
Working hours may vary from week to week based on the streaming class schedule. A flexible work schedule, including occasional evenings or weekends, may be necessary due to the nature of the responsibilities.
Individuals must be able to function effectively indoors in a classroom or office environment engaged in work of primarily a sedentary nature. Requires the ability to work at a workstation for extended periods. Requires ability to write, read written materials and computer screens, and to use telephonic and video conferencing communications. Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs. (e.g., moving equipment). Must be able to kneel, stoop, or reach to connect cables or adjust equipment. All individuals are required to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Minimum Requirements
Education:

• High School Diploma or GED

Experience:

• Ability and willingness to learn new technologies, classroom AV systems, and streaming support procedures.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Windows and common software applications.
• Basic experience using video conferencing tools such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, or similar platforms.
• Strong customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.

Preferred Qualifications
Education/Experience:

• Experience working in a higher education setting
• At least six months of experience working with computers, AV equipment, or streaming technology in an educational, office, or technical support setting
• Experience supporting or troubleshooting streaming technologies, video conferencing platforms, or classroom technology systems.
