What is a Live In job?

A Live-In job typically refers to a position where an employee resides at their workplace, often in a private household or care facility. Common roles include caregivers, nannies, housekeepers, or companions who provide support and services in exchange for accommodation and salary. Live-In employees usually have scheduled working hours but may also offer on-call assistance as needed. The arrangement allows for a close, continuous level of service while providing the employee with a place to live. Specific duties, compensation, and time off vary depending on the employer's agreement.

What are the typical daily routines and responsibilities for a Live In position?

A Live In role typically involves a mix of caregiving or household duties, such as assisting with personal care, preparing meals, light housekeeping, and sometimes providing transportation or companionship. Your schedule may vary depending on the needs of the household, but you can expect to be available for tasks throughout the day, with agreed-upon breaks and personal time. Flexibility is important, as routines can change due to medical appointments, school activities, or other family needs. Many Live In positions offer the opportunity to form meaningful connections with those you care for while gaining valuable experience in home management and personal support.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Live In position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Live In (such as a live-in caregiver, nanny, or housekeeper), you need hands-on experience in caregiving, household management, and possibly childcare or eldercare, often with references or relevant training. Familiarity with communication tools (such as mobile devices) and, in some roles, first aid or CPR certifications are commonly required. Compassion, reliability, flexibility, and strong interpersonal skills will help you build trust with the household and adapt to varying needs. These abilities are crucial for maintaining a safe, supportive, and smoothly running living environment for the individuals or families you support.

Job description

Short-Term Live-In Caregiver

Be a Caregiver. Be a Changemaker. Be SYNERGY.

SYNERGY HomeCare is a non-medical, in-home care agency and more than an agency—we’re a movement of compassionate professionals redefining what it means to care. As an independently owned and operated, award-winning home care agency, we are building a team of experienced caregivers who are not only skilled—but also passionate about making life better for others.

If you're looking for a purpose-driven career where you are respected, supported, and appreciated, and feel like family… this is your moment.

What Makes SYNERGY HomeCare Different?

You’re Family Here: We treat our caregivers with the same care and respect we give our clients. You’ll never feel like "just another employee."

Built on Empathy: We hire for heart. If you lead with kindness, we want you.

Voices Heard, Always: Your feedback and ideas directly help shape how we grow.

Flexible Scheduling: We understand life happens. Scheduling is based on availability, location, and client needs.

Growth Starts Day One: Whether you’re new to care or experienced, we invest in your training, growth, and well-being.

What You’ll Be Doing:

As a SYNERGY HomeCare caregiver, you’ll bring comfort, dignity, and joy to those who need it most—right in the homes where they feel safest. You will care for clients of all ages and abilities by providing support with ADLs such as:

  • Short-term live-in support (typically 2 days up to 2 weeks per assignment; varies by client)

  • Warm, personalized care in clients’ homes

  • Companionship & social engagement

  • Bathing, dressing, light hygiene support

  • Light housekeeping, laundry, and meal prep

  • Medication reminders

  • Assistance with transportation to doctor’s appointments, grocery shopping, errands, and other outings as needed

  • Building trusting relationships with clients and their families

  • Dependable care with a big heart and professional integrity

Do You…
  • Light up a room with your smile and positivity?

  • Believe that helping others is your calling?

  • Want to feel valued, not just scheduled?

What We Offer:
  • Competitive pay with opportunity for growth

  • Employee Incentive Program

  • Direct deposit – because you shouldn’t have to wait to get paid

  • Paid orientation & ongoing training – we invest in YOU

  • Time-and-a-half for overtime & holidays

  • Flexible scheduling based on availability, location, and client needs

  • Employee recognition programs – because great work deserves celebration

  • Supportive team culture – where your voice matters and you are never alone

Experience Requirement:

Preferred: 1+ year of caregiving experience or experience in a related field.

Availability Requirement:

Applicants must have consistent availability for short-term live-in assignments, which may range from 2 days up to 2 weeks per assignment, depending on client needs.
Reliable availability is essential to ensure continuity of care and scheduling stability.

Driver Requirement:

Must have a valid driver’s license, your own reliable vehicle, and active auto insurance, as driving is required to get to assignments and for possible client transportation needs.
Uber, public transportation (bus), rideshare services, or drop-offs are not considered reliable transportation for this role.
Consistent, dependable personal transportation is required.
