Job description

Summary:

Our Certified Caregivers (CNA's)  provide non-medical home care services to clients of Griswold Home Care. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Performs tasks and activities in client’s residence as detailed on the Client Requested Services, care plan
  • Able to prepare simple meals.
  • Perform personal care tasks that could include assistance with activities of daily living which are bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, ambulating or transferring, meal preparation or assisting with eating, and driving clients to appointments or errands.
  • Perform Companionship/sitter tasks that could include walking, exercising, reading, visiting, talking, game playing, puzzles
  • Perform other tasks that could include safety supervision, medication reminders, laundry, light housekeeping, shopping
  • Reports change in client’s condition to Agency office
  • Reports to work in clean, well-groomed appearance

Essential Duties:

  • Language and literacy skills are adequate to communication needs and requests of the client
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from a client’s home
  • For cases requiring transportation, must have a valid driver’s license, state minimum required liability insurance coverage, and positive driving record
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and alternate from stationary to traverse positions often and for extended periods of time 
Educational Background/Qualifications:
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Be able to understand the problems of elderly persons and persons with disabilities.
  • Language and literacy skills are adequate to communication needs and requests of the client
  • Must be able to read care plan
  • Criminal Background Clearance
  • TB clearance according to Griswold policy
  • At least 3 satisfactory references or employment verifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), associate degree preferred
Necessary Attributes:
  • Demonstrates empathy for vulnerable older adults and values their independence.
  • Maintain cheerful outlook while with client
  • Capable of working independently when needed
  • Punctual and hard working
