As a Sr. Systems Administrator III, you will work as part of a collaborative and high-performing team providing hands-on expertise to deliver technical solutions within the highest levels of the federal government by designing, implementing, administering, and supporting complex geographically dispersed infrastructure; managing Windows Server 2019 and 2022 environments; supporting Active Directory, Group Policy, Public Key Infrastructure, certificate services, clustered services, Internet Information Services, server roles, service dependencies, and operating system performance; administering Linux Server environments, including Ubuntu and Red Hat Enterprise Linux; troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues; and communicating risks, dependencies, and corrective actions clearly. What you'll do:
  • Lead or assist in the design, implementation, administration, and support of complex geographically dispersed NSD and data-center infrastructure.
  • Deploy, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and sustain Windows Server 2019/2022 environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, PKI/certificate services, clustered services, IIS, server roles, service dependencies, and OS-level performance issues.
  • Administer and troubleshoot Linux Server environments, including Ubuntu and RHEL-based systems.

What you'll need to succeed:
  • Active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI access.
  • 10+ years of proven experience as a System Administrator or similar IT infrastructure role.
  • Hands-on experience supporting enterprise data-center, server, virtualization, storage, monitoring, backup, and disaster-recovery environments.
  • Strong Windows Server administration experience, including Windows Server 2019 and/or Windows Server 2022.
  • Experience administering Active Directory, Group Policy, PKI/certificate services, clustered services, IIS, and core Windows Server roles.
  • Experience administering or troubleshooting modern Linux distributions, preferably Ubuntu and/or RHEL.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware ESXi, vCenter, vSphere, and/or Microsoft Hyper-V.
  • Experience supporting enterprise server and storage hardware, including SAN/NAS, RAID, and server chassis.
  • Familiarity with enterprise infrastructure platforms such as Dell/EMC, Pure Storage, HP, Nutanix, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with enterprise monitoring, system health checks, backup processes, and disaster-recovery protocols.
  • Experience with backup and recovery platforms such as Veeam, Commvault, or equivalent tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across operating systems, virtualization, hardware, storage, backup, and network-adjacent layers.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with radio/RF communications personnel, Government stakeholders, and technical teams.
  • Ability to work independently in a high-visibility, mission-critical environment with minimal ramp-up.
  • Ability to document findings, corrective actions, dependencies, and operational procedures.
  • Required technical certifications include Security+ and VMware VCP-DCV or equivalent data-center/virtualization platform certification.
  • Possess DoD 8140 certification aligned to the 451 System Administrator work role, such as Security+, Cloud+, SSCP, CASP+, CISSP, or other Government-approved equivalent certification.
  • Server+, RHCSA, Microsoft server-focused certification, or equivalent enterprise infrastructure certification is preferred.
  • Backup, storage, or platform-specific certifications for Veeam, Commvault, Dell/EMC, Pure Storage, HP, Nutanix, or equivalent platforms are beneficial.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related engineering field is preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for education requirements.

This position is designated as essential personnel supporting continuity of operations and may require work during government shutdowns, emergencies, or other critical situations.
SALARY RANGE: $170,000 - $219,000
The salary range for this position is determined based on qualifications, skills, and relevant experience. The final salary offered will be determined based on several factors including:
  • The candidate's professional background and relevant work experience
  • The specific responsibilities of the role and organizational needs
  • Internal equity and alignment with current team compensation
  • This role is also eligible for additional compensation, subject to the terms and policies of MetroStar, which may include:
    • Performance-based bonuses
    • Company-paid training and/or certifications
    • Referral bonuses
