Live In Training Bookkeeper information

Is AI replacing bookkeepers?

AI is automating certain tasks within bookkeeping, such as data entry and transaction categorization, but it does not fully replace bookkeepers. Live-in training bookkeepers and other accounting professionals still perform complex analysis, decision-making, and oversight that require human judgment and expertise. Technology serves as a tool to enhance efficiency rather than eliminate the need for skilled bookkeepers.

Can I be a self-taught bookkeeper?

Live-in training bookkeepers can become proficient through self-education by learning accounting principles, bookkeeping software, and financial regulations. However, gaining formal certifications or completing training programs can improve job prospects and credibility in the field.

How to get a remote bookkeeping job with no experience?

To secure a remote bookkeeping job with no experience, focus on building basic skills in accounting software like QuickBooks or Xero through online courses or tutorials. Highlight transferable skills such as attention to detail and organization in your resume, and consider obtaining entry-level certifications to demonstrate your commitment and knowledge to potential employers.

What hourly rate should a bookkeeper charge?

The hourly rate for a live-in training bookkeeper typically ranges from $20 to $50 per hour, depending on experience, location, and the complexity of the work. Bookkeepers with certifications or specialized skills may charge higher rates, and rates can vary based on whether they work independently or for a company.

As a Drainage Engineer in Training (EIT) with 2-4 years of experience, you will support the planning, analysis, and design of drainage and stormwater infrastructure projects. • Prepare drainage calculations, technical memoranda, and design reports under supervision
  • Develop construction drawings and details using CAD and modeling software
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using industry-standard tools
  • Support project teams through concept, preliminary, and detailed design phases
  • Assist with quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and preparation of design documentation
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to support integrated and efficient design solutions
  • Help respond to agency comments, RFIs, and internal quality control reviews
  • Participate in site visits, data collection, and construction observations as needed
  • Assist with review of shop drawings and contractor submittals
  • Support senior staff during construction administration activities
  • Apply engineering standards, codes, and best practices in all work efforts
  • Actively pursue professional licensure and continuing education opportunities
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe
  • 2-4 years of experience in drainage, stormwater, or civil infrastructure design
  • Internship or co-op experience in consulting or public-sector work preferred
  • Familiarity with drainage and hydrologic/hydraulic software (e.g., Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, InfoDrainage, or similar)
  • Basic understanding of stormwater design criteria and regulatory requirements
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
  • Strong willingness to learn and take direction
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines in a team environment
  • Detail-oriented with a positive, problem-solving attitude
At Horrocks, you can expect a competitive base salary and award-winning benefits. Including, but not limited to:
