Job description

Compensation: $16 - $17 per hour based on experience and/or technical knowledge for the position.
Time Required: This is a part-time position contracted during the fall and spring semesters. Beginning August 2026, the library assistant will work approximately 20 hours per week when classes are in session. Schedule is negotiable upon hire.

Position Overview
The Library Assistant assists the Campus Librarian in library operations including but not limited to providing library services, improving the collection, organizing information, marketing the library, and maintaining an orderly study environment.
Primary Responsibilities
Front Desk Services
โ€ข Create user accounts, check library materials in and out, approve renewals, place holds, and submit interlibrary loan requests
โ€ข Find, retrieve, and reshelve print and digital library materials
โ€ข Answer questions and troubleshoot technical issues
โ€ข Monitor library usage and enforce library policies
Collections
โ€ข Process, mend, and weed library materials
โ€ข Organize book displays and shelving
โ€ข Correct old catalog listings
โ€ข Digitize and organize campus archival materials
User Experience / Engagement
โ€ข Plan and execute library programming
โ€ข Serve as an assistant editor for the Warrior yearbook
โ€ข Market library resources and services through signage, displays, and social media
โ€ข Provide basic library instruction or programming in the evenings upon request
Qualifications
โ€ข Faith, service and lifestyle that meets University expectations (See IPM sections: "Statement of Core Values," "Doctrinal Statement," "Christian Standards," "Lifestyle Standard.")
โ€ข Intermediate knowledge of computers, social media, and productivity applications such as Windows, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Canva.
โ€ข Intermediate knowledge of (academic) library operations and Library of Congress classification system
โ€ข Preferred: Some college completed
โ€ข Preferred: Experience working in higher education and/or libraries
Abilities and Skills
โ€ข Demonstrates ability to work independently and collaboratively
โ€ข Demonstrates ability to warmly and readily serve students and staff
โ€ข Demonstrates efficiency and careful attention to detail
โ€ข Demonstrates strong customer service, written, and verbal communication skills
