Guelph Community Health Centre prioritizes people who face barriers to health and accessing services, and people who identify as:

  • Homeless or at risk of homelessness
  • Living on low income

We are seeking an energetic and motivated youth to join our team as aYouth Maintenance Workerfor the summer. This hands-on role is funded by the Government of Canada's Canada Summer Jobs program. You will work closely with our facility team to ensure our indoor spaces and outdoor grounds remain safe, clean, and welcoming for the community. No prior professional experience is required; we will provide full on-the-job safety training and mentorship.


Eligibility requirements

This position is partially funded by the Canada Summer Jobs fund. In order to be considered for this job you must:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment contract;
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment (student visas do not qualify); and,
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations


Principal job duties

  • Facility Cleaning:Sweep, mop, vacuum, and sanitize common areas or shared community spaces.
  • Minor Repairs:Assist with basic tasks like painting,touch-ups, changing lightbulbs, and moving furniture.
  • Waste Management:Empty facility trash and recycling bins regularly to keep the site tidy.
  • Safety Checks:Report any structural hazards, property damage, or safety concerns to the supervisor.


    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Enjoy performing physical, hands-on tasks.
    • Ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs) and stand or walk for long periods.
    • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
    • Willingness to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided by the employer.
    • A positive attitude and eagerness to learn new manual skills.
