Job description

BVP is an intentionally diverse network of tuition-free public charter schools. As a founding member of the National Coalition of Diverse Charter Schools, BVP offers a high-quality school choice to the families of Central Falls, Cumberland, Lincoln, and Pawtucket. 

 

The mission of Blackstone Valley Prep is to prepare every scholar to achieve their goals for college and the world beyond. BVP's scholars will graduate empowered as learners, individuals, and community members to access opportunities and break down barriers.

Additionally, School Psychologists are expected to:

 

  • Administer, interpret, and utilize psychological tests, functional behavior assessments, and other evaluation materials to complete comprehensive reports

  • Participate in the RTI process for scholars with confirmed or suspected special needs and in the subsequent planning of educational programs.  Discuss evaluation results and meaningful recommendations as related to the referral question.

  • Help school teams use evaluation and observation data to plan instruction that will help scholars meet learning standards and access curriculum.

  • Identify scholars in need of support and/or referral services through observation, data collection, informal evaluation, and formal evaluation, and assist school personnel in the implementation and coordination of appropriate action steps

  • Work in collaboration with the student support team

  • Assist school teams in developing, implementing, and monitoring behavior intervention plans

  • Provide ongoing consultation and modeling of therapeutic strategies for teaching teams and support staff 

  • Maintain accurate, complete, and comprehensive scholar and staff records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations

  • Manage an assessment caseload to maintain strict adherence to all assessment timelines pursuant to special education guidelines

  • Certification in relevant psychological field 

  • CPI Certified 

 

Qualifications:      

  • Advanced degree in school psychology required

  • Bilingual candidates strongly preferred, but not required

  • Successful applicants must hold an appropriate Rhode Island certification and licensure by their date of hire. Rhode Island offers reciprocity with over 30 states across the  country. Learn more here. 


Compensation Range:

  • Refer to Teacher STEP Scale (starting in 25-26 School Psychologists get an additional $5000 added on to their Step)
