At Eugene Water & Electric Board (EWEB), weย don'tย just provide water and electricity โ€“ we deliver essential services that are vital to the community. We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator to manage andย maintainย MSSQL and Oracle databases supporting critical utility operations. This isย an important positionย that helps keep EWEB running.ย ย 

As a Database Administrator at EWEB, you willย be responsible forย ensuring database performance, security, availability, and scalability across diverse environments.ย Additionalย responsibilities include implementing backup and recovery strategies,ย optimizingย queries, and supporting application teams. This role plays a key part in sustaining the integrity of enterprise data systems for a mission-critical public utility.ย 

Key Responsibilitiesย 
  • Design, developandmaintainenterprisedatabases including creating data structures and conceptual models to meet business requirements.ย ย 
  • Organize, analyze, archive, andmaintaindata and data structuresin Microsoft SQL and Oracle database systems.ย 
  • Ensure availability, reliability, capacity, and effectiveutilizationof database resources.ย ย 
  • Install, test,update and troubleshoot databases and dataย integrationsย usingindustry standard toolsand techniques.ย ย 
  • Identifyand resolve database, application integration, and system performance issues.ย ย 
  • Providesupport to developers, application administrators, and vendors asappropriate.ย 
  • Ensure data security,backup, recovery, andcontinuity of service for databases.ย 
  • Create andย maintainconfiguration documents and work as a team to supportย operations.ย

Location:ย This positionย is based in Eugene, Oregon; itย has been approved as a hybrid work arrangement involving a combination of telecommuting and working onsite. The selected candidate must live in the state of Oregon.ย 

Compensation & Benefitsย 

The starting annual salary for this position isย $117,325.02ย toย $146,656.28ย commensurateย with knowledge, skills, education, and experience as it relates to the position.ย

Consistent with EWEBโ€™s compensation philosophy, it is not customary to place individuals at the high end of the salary range at the time of hire. Qualifications & Requirementsย

Education:ย Bachelorโ€™s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Informationย Systemsย or closely related field from an accredited college, which includes course work in computer concepts, technical writing, software tools, and workstation environment.ย 

Licenses/Certifications:ย None.ย 

Experience:ย Five years of progressively responsible experience in administering database management system software. Experience using and administering relational database management system software.ย 

Recommended:ย Database vendor-based DBA certifications,ย networkย and storage experience.ย ย Experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows operating systems.ย ย Project Management skills as well as experience with vendor and contract relationships management.ย
