Job description

UWM Sports Complex, Facility Technician: Job Summary

● This is a part-time, contingent (0-25 hours/week) role whose primary task is maintaining the cleanliness, integrity and setup at the UWM Sports Complex in Pontiac, MI. This position has the potential to grow into a full time role (with benefits) for those with exemplary work/work ethic, leadership and those who mesh well in our team culture. You will be tasked with but not limited to the items listed below. Compensation will fall in the $12-$15/hour ballpark depending on work experience and is subject to a 90-day review.

General Accountabilities

  • Manages front desk by answering phones and interfacing with clients

  • Manages spaces according to the facility schedule

  • Processes drop-ins at Front Desk

  • Cleans bathrooms, offices, fields, basketball courts, and any other assigned areas by sweeping, mopping and scrubbing.

  • Setup/breakdown of facility spaces such as volleyball and basketball courts or for special events

● Disposes of infectious waste when assigned.

● Empties and decontaminates trash containers.

● Moves, rearranges, and dusts furniture and fixtures.

● Mixes or blends routine cleaning solutions to proper concentrations as necessary for various tasks.

● Cleans and waxes floors using industrial-size mops and/or machines.

● Washes blinds, windows, and walls with prescribed solutions.

● Operates wet/dry vacuum for cleaning up dirt a messes

● Reports needs for minor building or equipment repair to Facility manager.

● Reports safety hazards to Facility manager.

● Washes and folds towels used to clean the facility

● Set up and tear down of tables, chairs, and auxiliary facility equipment for large events

Job Qualifications

● Education: High school diploma or equivalent

● Experience: At least 1 year of previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience Skills

● Active listener and learner

● Professional communication with clients and other team members

● Detail oriented- sets/keeps high quality standards

● Thrives in a fast-paced (team) work environment
