Job description

Join GFL Environmental and help keep our facilities operating safely, efficiently, and professionally. We're seeking a well-rounded, hands-on Facilities Maintenance Technician who takes pride in quality workmanship and keeping buildings and property in top condition.
This role is critical to ensuring our facilities remain safe, functional, and well-maintained to support daily operations.
Join GFL Environmental and help keep our facilities operating safely, efficiently, and professionally. We're seeking a well-rounded, hands-on Facilities Maintenance Technician who takes pride in quality workmanship and keeping buildings and property in top condition.
What You Will Do:
You will be responsible for the overall upkeep of company facilities and addressing maintenance issues promptly and professionally to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on HVAC systems, including furnaces and air-conditioning systems (EPA certification not required)
  • Service and repair water heaters, solar collection tanks, and appliances
  • Perform general plumbing repairs, including fixtures, disposals, drains, and piping
  • Complete basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs (lighting, outlets, switches, minor diagnostics)
  • Conduct general carpentry, painting, and building repairs (doors, drywall, trim, hardware, etc.)
  • Perform groundskeeping and exterior facility maintenance as needed
  • Provide maintenance support for additional facility systems and equipment as required
  • Perform skilled work in one or more trades (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, locksmith, etc.) requiring solid working knowledge and troubleshooting ability
  • Respond promptly to service requests while providing excellent internal customer service
  • Accurately document all work performed in accordance with company policy
  • Conduct preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and unexpected repairs
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas
  • Follow all company policies and comply with federal, state, and local safety regulations

Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of facilities, building maintenance, or multi-trade experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple service requests
  • Valid driver's license
  • Reliable, professional, and customer-service oriented

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to climb ladders, kneel, bend, and work at heights
