Alpine Ski Coach

Located in Portland, Maine, Cheverus High School is a Private Catholic College Preparatory School sponsored by the Society of Jesus. We seek to hire and retain faculty and staff members who are passionate and proficient in their fields, who understand and embrace our school's mission, and who are committed to leading students in co-curricular activities. The Alpine Ski Coach is responsible for leading and developing the school's alpine ski program in a manner that supports the mission and values of the school. The coach will foster a positive, competitive, and educational environment that promotes skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership, and personal growth while ensuring the safety and well-being of all student-athletes.

Job Description

  • Organize, supervise, and administer all aspects of the alpine ski program.
  • Teach and develop alpine skiing fundamentals, racing techniques, conditioning, and mental preparation.
  • Plan and conduct effective practices and training sessions.
  • Ensure compliance with league, state association, mountain, and school safety guidelines.
  • Monitor weather and slope conditions and adjust plans accordingly.
  • Coordinate practice schedules, race logistics, transportation, equipment management, and communication with athletes and families.
  • Work collaboratively with mountain personnel, race officials, and league representatives.
  • Previous alpine ski coaching and/or competitive skiing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of alpine ski racing techniques, training methods, and safety procedures.
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Must be available weeknights for practices and races.

  • The results of a background check conducted with the State Bureau of Identification and Department of Human Services which will be conducted upon your employment.
  • Completion and approved Criminal History Background Check (CHRC) with the Department of Education Cost $70.
  • Sexual Harassment Training Certification (provided by Cheverus)
  • Virtus Protecting God's Children Training and ongoing monthly bulletins completed
