In this role, you will work hands-on with a variety of materials and techniques to create high-quality, custom signage that makes an impact for our customers. Job Overview - Produce all types of signage - interior, exterior, illuminated, non-illuminated, post and panels, sign boxes, and pylons

Reports to - Fabrication Manager

Work Location - In Shop

Position Type - Full Time - Hourly

Requirements:
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine project specifications and fabrication requirements
  • Measure, cut, bend, weld, and assemble materials including aluminum, steel, acrylic, plastics, and vinyl
  • Safely and efficiently operate shop tools and equipment such as saws, brakes, shears, welders, routers, and drills
  • Prepare, finish, and assemble sign components according to design and quality standards
  • Install LED lighting, wiring, and other electrical components for illuminated signage when required
  • Ensure accuracy, quality, and craftsmanship in all fabricated products
  • Record job details in production software by updating hours, closing work orders, and documenting materials, procedures, and specifications
  • Communicate project updates, changes, delays, or issues promptly to the Fabrication Manager
  • Collaborate with other production departments to resolve issues and ensure efficient workflow and on-time delivery
  • Monitor and manage material usage to minimize waste and control production costs
  • Maintain assigned tools and equipment in proper working condition
  • Follow established quality control procedures to minimize rework and ensure projects meet standards and deadlines
  • Inspect finished signs for accuracy, quality, and compliance with drawings and specifications
  • Load, move, and stage materials and completed signs for shipping, delivery, or installation
  • Assist with on-site sign installation as needed
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace throughout the workday and at the end of each shift
  • Ensure that OSHA and company safety standards are followed
  • Other duties as assigned

Technical Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders
  • Hands-on experience with sign fabrication processes, including cutting, bending, welding, and assembly of metals, plastics, acrylics, and vinyl
  • Proficient in the safe operation of shop tools and equipment (saws, shears, brakes, welders, routers, drills, sanders, etc.)
  • Accurate measuring, marking, and cutting skills with strong basic math abilities
  • Knowledge of finishing techniques such as painting, laminating, and surface preparation
  • Working knowledge of computers and the Windows environment

  • Sign installation experience (on-site assembly, mounting, and finishing)
  • Experience with paints, coatings, and finishing techniques specific to signage
  • Post-Secondary Education or Equivalent Experience
  • Valid Driver License
