Job description

Job Title: Bell Person

Department: Rooms

Reports To: Bell Captain/ Front Desk Manager/ Front Office Manager/ Director of Rooms

SUMMARY:

Serves hotel guests by performing the following duties. The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following

  • Welcome guests to the hotel upon arrival and during stay. Displays positive body language and in “On Brand” manner at all times
  • Assisting guests with their luggage to the room, providing the information regarding the hotel’s amenities and services
  • Orienting guests to their rooms, placing luggage on luggage racks, showing where the heat/air can be adjusted, phone, modern line, mini-bar, and offer ice
  • Assisting guests with are information, special events within area and service offered at the hotel/restaurant, along with hours of operation
  • Delivery of guest amenities, welcome notes, faxes and packages, refrigerators are requested
  • Pickup and delivery dry cleaning for guests
  • Follow through on all guest complaints and requests to ensure the appropriate action and follow up has occurred
  • Review group folios, prepare for group arrivals and special requests or VIP’s
  • Assist guests with directions to area restaurants, hotel restaurant, and group functions
  • Communicating with Front Desk regarding special requests, VIP’s, AXPLA, Rewards Members, etc. and special amenity deliveries
  • Assisting guests with concern/complaints
  • Keep work area neat, clean and organized, maintaining keys in secure areas
  • Report unsafe conditions immediately
  • Have excellent communication at all levels from Valet to Heart of the House employees/associates to insure guest needs are met first
  • Conforms to procedures that enhances customer service and operation of front office
  • Must show to guests excellent knowledge of the hotel guests’ areas and beyond.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or GED; one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one on one small group situations to guests, clients and other colleagues of the hotel. Main language communication with guests is English and having the ability to communicate in other language in addition to English enhances customer service.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
