Job description

Job Description
The School of Education at La Sierra University invites applications for a 20% part-time faculty position to oversee the University's Seventh-day Adventist Educational Administration Program, including the Principal Endorsement and Certificate Program. The position is expected to begin on a mutually agreed-upon date.
This is a non-tenure-track, part-time (20%) faculty appointment. The initial appointment will be for two years, subject to annual performance reviews and program needs. The contract may be renewed or extended by mutual agreement and continued institutional need. This position is primarily administrative and instructional, focusing on leadership and oversight of the Adventist Educational Administration Program and related certificate offerings.
This position is primarily online. The successful candidate will provide leadership for the Adventist Educational Administration Program, oversee program operations, advise students, coordinate course offerings and instructors, support recruitment efforts, and maintain strong relationships with Adventist schools, conferences, unions, and educational organizations.
The School of Education offers graduate programs in educational leadership and administration, providing professional preparation for educators seeking leadership roles within Seventh-day Adventist schools and organizations. Students are drawn from across North America and from international Adventist educational systems.
Responsibilities
The successful applicant will:
  • Provide leadership and oversight for the Seventh-day Adventist Educational Administration Program.
  • Coordinate and administer the Adventist Principal Endorsement and Certificate Program.
  • Teach selected online graduate courses in educational leadership, administration, or related areas.
  • Advise and mentor students pursuing Adventist educational leadership credentials.
  • Collaborate with conferences, unions, and Adventist educational organizations to support recruitment, enrollment, and program development.
  • Coordinate course scheduling and collaborate with adjunct faculty and program instructors.
  • Assist with curriculum review, program assessment, accreditation requirements, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Support marketing, recruitment, and retention efforts for Adventist educational leadership programs.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Dean and Department Chair regarding program matters. Because this is a primarily online position, regular in-person attendance at faculty and school meetings is not expected.

Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
  • An earned doctoral degree in educational administration, leadership, curriculum and instruction, or a closely related field. Exceptional candidates with a master's degree and extensive leadership experience may be considered.
  • Significant experience as a principal, superintendent, educational administrator, or educational leader in the Seventh-day Adventist school system.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Seventh-day Adventist philosophy of education and of school administration.
  • Experience teaching, mentoring, or providing professional development for educators.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Experience in online teaching, educational technology, and program administration is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates who:
  • Have served successfully in leadership positions within Seventh-day Adventist education.
  • Have experience working with principal certification, leadership development, or administrative preparation programs.
  • Have established professional networks within the Pacific Union Conference or other Adventist educational systems.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to mentoring and developing future educational leaders.

Commitment to Diversity
We welcome applicants with demonstrated success working with diverse populations. La Sierra University has been recognized as one of the most diverse campuses in the United States. Candidates should have experience-or potential-to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
