Job description

Looking for a caring & loving dog walkers to add to our growing team who is interested in making supplemental income loving on pets of all shapes & sizes!

For every member of our amazing team, we provide:

  • All the slobbery dog kisses that you can handle
  • Experience the NJ seasons with a dog by your side
  • Paid exercise
  • Opportunities to advance in our company
  • Extensive training and support from two highly educated owners
  • Discounted services for your fur babe
  • Promotions and performance BONUSES
  • Protected by workers comp and liability insurance

About us: Furmaids Pet Services is a family-owned, highly rated pet care company in Eastern Monmouth County.  We are a force free company which means we focus on well-being first and foremost. We do not use punishments or aversive equipment like choke, shock, or prong collars. All of our staff are trained in using force free methods and ways to use these techniques to improve the quality and ease of your walks. We are big on letting the dogs sniff and leading their own adventure. We believe their walks are all about them and satisfying their needs which can look different for every dog.
We focus on safety and well-being while providing the best care to both or fur and human friends. We prioritize special care and little things like checking in on a sick or injured dog goes a long way in our industry. We always try to go the extra mile whenever we can. We serve over 60 active clients, and we continue to grow.  We’re the type of people who when we get together for happy hours, we talk about our pets for hours.  We value client connections (both human and fur), pets’ safety, integrity and honesty, teamwork, an inclusive environment for both our team and our clients, exemplary communication, and a complete wow experience for our clients.

This would be a perfect position for:

  • Freelancers
  • Entrepreneurs
  • Artists
  • Stay-at-home-parents
  • College students
  • Someone who is looking for a career working with animals
  • Anyone else who has availability during the weekdays.

Applicant must meet the following qualifications:

  • Availability between 9:00am-6:00pm Monday-Friday and one Saturday per month. Must commit to at least 10 hours per week.
  • Able to make a long-term commitment
  • Must NOT work for any other pet care companies such as Rover. All of our team members are employees who need to sign a non-compete agreement
  • Must have a smart phone and computer and internet access
  • Must have access to a reliable, insured vehicle
  • Live in or near our service area (Asbury Park to Belmar, Neptune, Neptune City)
  • Flexible schedule
  • Able to walk in all weather
  • Willing to travel within a 10-mile radius of home

Who we are looking for:

  • You need to have excellent time management skills. We do anywhere from 5-10 walks per day. The visits are back-to-back and must be completed within a certain time frame.
  • You need to align with our force free values and lead with a kind heart.
  • You must be able to work independently and be resourceful. We provide initial training and ongoing training, but much of the dog walking work is independent and on your own.
  • You need to have strong communication skills, both written and verbal. We communicate with clients mostly through notes through our system. Our clients love receiving our updates each day, so you must be able to communicate clearly with clients and staff.
  • You must have some level of animal intuition and the ability to read dog body language. This is part of your training but having a level of understanding that comes naturally is important.
  • You must be an animal-lover and have endless amounts of patience when it comes to animals.

How Much Can I Make?

  • Team Members typically work around 15-20 hours per week. We have a culture of helping out team members, allowing and encouraging members to pick up additional hours if we can provide them, we will!
  • Compensation is $17.00 per hour plus TIPS, with opportunities for growth in your role. All positions are part-time W2 employee positions.

A Final, but VERY important note!

This role is physically demanding. It involves daily walks covering multiple miles, working with high-energy dogs, and walking two dogs at the same time.

For example, If the idea of spending an afternoon walking a lively 90-pound German Shepherd who adores their walkies sounds like a dream to you (as it does to us!), then this job is a perfect fit. However, if this scenario seems scary or unenjoyable, don’t worry—let’s just be friends instead. We appreciate you either way!

If this resonates with you, we’d love to hear from you about joining our furry-loving team!
