Job description

Summary of Position:
The Registered Nurse utilizes evidence based practice to provide and coordinate care that is patient-centered and culturally competent for the patient seeking evaluation and treatment of sexual assault. Care includes offering the services of a trained rape crisis advocate, and working with the provider to assure that appropriate testing, prophylaxis and treatment of injuries is provided.
Primary Job responsibilities:
The sexual assault forensic examiner is specifically trained to provide competent, compassionate care to victims of sexual assault, while performing assessment and collection and preservation of forensic evidence.
Education, Training and Experience:
Education: Current Registration and Licensure as a professional Registered Nurse in New York State. A BSN from an accredited school is preferred.
Experience: Must have completed a minimum of at least one-year full time clinical experience as a Registered Nurse. Must have completed required training or demonstrated competence per NYS DOH in accordance with Section 2805-I of Article 28 Public Health Law. And completed a post-course competency based preceptorship.
Certification: Certification is required from NYS DOH as a Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner.
