Job description

We are looking for a Survey Helper to work out of our Rock Springs, WY office.
The basic function of the Helper is to support the Party Chief in the effort to complete the scope of survey work per the Field Operations Manager.
WHS is an engineering and land surveying company grounded in accountability, professionalism, and expertise - standing alongside and supporting the clients and communities where we live and work.
This will involve preparing the survey work area, setting up survey materials and equipment (UTV and Truck), preparing equipment for measurement readings and site set up. The Helper would use a variety of surveying tools and equipment, including safety equipment (P.P.E.). The Helper position is defined by progressively increased skills: not qualified, in training, competent, or expert-trainer.
HELPER DUTIES
- Arrives at field office at least 10 minutes early to assist loading tools and equipment.
- Performs all cleanup functions without damaging client land or company property.
- Loads and unloads vehicles; keeps site and vehicles clean.
- Cleans debris by hand or shovel if necessary.
- Cleaning of office area.
- Safety training required and adhered to 100% of the time.
- Maintains clean and safe survey site.
- Assists with distribution and setup of surveying materials.
- Obeys safety policies, OSHA codes, and wears proper PPE.
- Operates survey equipment and moving equipment.
- Must have valid driver's license.
- Uses 30-minute lunch appropriately; no cell phone use while working.
- Basic math, language, and logic skills.
- Ability to communicate in English.
- Ability to work well with others and learn survey tasks.
- JSA completed daily.
- Ability to use hand tools, hike rough terrain up to 4+ miles per day.
- Ensures cleanup, equipment accountability, reporting of damage.
- Completes field notes, data, timesheets, and paperwork.
- Meets with Field Operations Manager daily.
- Weekly cleaning of trucks, trailers, and equipment.
REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB
-Employee must stand, climb, bend, crouch, lift up to 70 pounds, and have full use of senses.
-Outdoor construction environments with varying weather conditions; long hours and high stress may be expected.
-Required: Vocational or equivalent experience.
-Preferred: High school diploma or GED with construction or surveying training.
-Willingness to learn, take direction, travel overnight, arrive early, and work late.
**This is a full-time temporary role where you will work June-December.
