Ewald & Wasserman (E&W) Research Consultants are looking for part-time, on-call field interviewers to work on tobacco, public health related research studies throughout California. We are a survey research firm that provides research design, data collection and statistical analysis for a broad range of clients.
Candidates applying should have a keen eye for detail, the ability to follow directions, and to work very well independently. Must be highly savvy in using an iPhone and programs like google sheets and Zoom. It is ideal for candidates with flexible schedules, positive, "can do" attitudes and a desire to learn about research practices. It is a good position for someone that likes to drive and visit different parts of CA. If you have collected tobacco related data before - this is a great position for you! You must live in the state of CA to apply for this job.
This is an ideal job for someone who is very well organized and likes to map routes and drive to different locations. A candidate must feel comfortable working with an iPhone to make observations at stores and to collect very meticulous data as well as sending daily reports via cell phone on google sheets.
These studies require the use of a car, and driving to assigned locations where tobacco or vape products are sold in clustered areas in CA. There will be some locations that require several hours of driving and where overnights might be required. If you are required to stay overnight, you are given a federal per diem for that county for meals and lodging. This is a mapping and driving position and you must feel comfortable doing both.
The current study will be starting in the mid to end of August and will last for approximately 3-4 months. This will require attending a 2-day paid training and then receiving an assignment of locations to visit. The study entails driving to assigned retail outlets in the state of CA and collecting data at a range of shops that sell tobacco products. The hours will be flexible and range from 5 to 30 hours per week based on availability.
The rate of pay is $27-31 per hour based on experience with tobacco data collection. You are reimbursed for mileage if using your own car OR are asked to rent a car for which you are reimbursed for car cost as well as gas. You are paid for your driving time.
