Description
SUMMARY As an O&M Field Technician you will be responsible for performing and overseeing the operations, maintenance and repair of wind turbines while ensuring all work all work is performed in a safe and efficient manner. Other requirements include:
  • Must live within 45 miles of site location (Jefferson, IA)
  • Ability to climb ladders up to heights of 300+ feet
  • Must not exceed 280 lbs. for safety of employee
  • Work in confined spaces with diverse environmental conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 80 pounds
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • Required overnight travel for safety training and other required activities
  • Major components / Up tower gearbox repair / Gen bearing replacements / Borescoping / Inspections
  • Contributes to team effort and maintains quality service
  • Keeps fully informed of current developments in wind industry, regulations and Company procedures
  • Must always be on hand and ready to perform additional related assigned tasks

Requirements
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS/COMPETENCIES To perform the essential functions of this position successfully, an individual should be able to demonstrate and provide the following:
  • HS Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Secondary education highly preferred
  • Two (2) - five (5) years of functional experience in Wind Energy (or) related industry experience preferred
  • Knowledge in Word, Excel, and Outlook and the ability and willingness to learn new software applications
  • Excellent organizational skills, communication skills, the ability to multi-task and most importantly, the ability to work well in a team • Demonstrated openness to change, flexibility and adaptability
  • Strong analytical thinker with the ability to resolve complex issues
  • Self-starter with a drive for continuous improvement of the business operations
  • Express willingness to step out of the box to assist other teams to meet and overcome challenges for the company

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This position is largely self-directed and requires understanding of company policy, procedures, and values. Team members will be required to adhere to all safety requirements in all work environments. This position operates in a field & shop environment.
  • Full Time position up to 40 hours per week; may require occasional overtime as needed

Candidates must successfully complete a background check and drug screening prior to hiring. This role is considered safety-sensitive and may be subject to ongoing drug and testing in compliance with company policy and regulatory requirements.
Specific physical requirements include
  • On feet for approximately 90% of the time while working
  • Regularly lifting weights of fifty (50) pounds and up to one hundred (100) pounds occasionally
  • Some travel occasional, possibly overnight at times
