What are live-in ranch hands?

Live-in ranch hands are workers who reside on a ranch property and assist with daily operations such as caring for livestock, maintaining equipment, repairing fences, and other general ranch work. Their responsibilities can vary depending on the size of the ranch and the types of animals or crops present. To thrive as a Live In Ranch Hand, you need practical knowledge of animal husbandry, equipment operation, general maintenance, and basic first aid, often gained through hands-on experience or vocational training. Familiarity with tools like tractors, fencing equipment, and sometimes livestock management software is typically required. Reliability, strong work ethic, adaptability, and effective communication are valuable soft skills for this role. These skills ensure the smooth operation of the ranch, animal welfare, and successful teamwork in a demanding environment.

What are some typical daily responsibilities for a Live In Ranch Hand, and how does the role interact with other ranch staff?

A Live In Ranch Hand's daily responsibilities often include feeding and caring for livestock, maintaining fences and equipment, cleaning barns or stalls, and assisting with seasonal tasks such as calving or haying. The role requires close collaboration with ranch managers, other ranch hands, and sometimes veterinarians to ensure animal health and efficient ranch operations. Job description

Sentara Health, a nationally recognized, not-for-profit integrated healthcare system, is seeking an exceptional fellowship-trained Orthopedic Hand Surgeon to join a highly respected hand surgery team in beautiful coastal Virginia. This is an outstanding opportunity to build a rewarding, high-impact practice with Sentara Medical Group—a thriving multispecialty group of more than 1,500 providers serving one of the most desirable communities on the East Coast: Virginia Beach and Chesapeake, Virginia.

Sentara Hand Surgery Specialists is recruiting a 4th Orthopedic Hand Surgeon to join a collaborative, established practice dedicated exclusively to hand and upper extremity care. The practice offers two convenient outpatient locations—one in Chesapeake and one on the campus of Sentara Leigh Hospital, a 250-bed facility featuring a dedicated 48-bed orthopedic hospital. Candidates will appreciate a thoughtfully designed care model with in-office therapy, digital X-ray, an on-site procedure room, and an ambulatory surgical center located just across the hall—creating a streamlined experience for both surgeons and patients.

Opportunity Highlights: Full-time hand surgery from elbow to fingertip, no general orthopedic call, one hospital, strong PCP and ER referral base, APP support, and 1:4 hand call.

Join an organization known for clinical excellence, quality, and innovation. Sentara has earned national recognition, including IBM Watson Health Top Health System honors, CMS high-performing hospital ratings, Healthgrades patient safety recognition, Forbes recognition for healthcare professionals, and systemwide DNV Accreditation.

This is a rare opportunity to step into a premier, high-visibility hand surgery program with modern technology, dedicated operational support, a strong referral network, and an excellent compensation and benefits package designed to support professional success and personal well-being.

  • Competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, retirement match, malpractice and tail coverage
  • 46 days of annual PTO plus $7,500 CME allowance
  • Focused hand surgery practice with no general orthopedic call, APP support, and strong PCP/ER referrals
  • 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization; eligible for Public Service Loan Forgiveness
  • Excellent schools and coastal lifestyle with year-round recreation

Live where others vacation—and practice where your expertise is truly valued.

Virginia Beach and Chesapeake offer a rare combination of coastal living, excellent neighborhoods, strong school options, and convenient access to the broader Hampton Roads region. Candidates can choose from oceanfront, bayfront, suburban, or more spacious rural-style communities—all close to the beach, hospital, shopping, dining, and schools.

The lifestyle is a major differentiator, with beaches, waterways, boating, kayaking, fishing, golf, trails, state parks, festivals, dining, arts, and four mild seasons for year-round outdoor living.

Norfolk International Airport and easy weekend access to Richmond, Washington, DC, Williamsburg, the Outer Banks, and the Research Triangle make it simple to stay connected while enjoying an exceptional coastal lifestyle.

If you are looking for a focused hand surgery opportunity with supportive partners, modern resources, strong referrals, and an exceptional lifestyle, this position offers the complete package.
