Key Responsibilities
- Perform locomotive switching operations to move and position railcars throughout the facility.
- Couple and uncouple railcars, ensuring all connections are secure and meet safety standards.
- Align, operate, and secure rail switches according to operational needs.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with locomotive operators and other crew members to coordinate movements.
- Conduct pre- and post-operation inspections of rail equipment and report defects or safety concerns.
- Follow all applicable safety regulations, company policies, and operating procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of railcar movements and switching activities.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving switching or logistical issues.
- Work closely with internal teams to support production schedules and shipment deadlines.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous experience in rail switching or locomotive operations required.
- Strong knowledge of rail safety rules, procedures, and regulations.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including manual coupling, uncoupling, and switch alignment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- High attention to detail with solid problem-solving abilities.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts and respond to on-demand switching needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification or formal training in locomotive operations or rail switching.
- Experience working in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
