Position Summary
The Tennis & Racquet Sports Attendant is responsible for the daily preparation, maintenance, appearance, and operational readiness of Shell Bay’s racquet sports facilities. This hands-on, maintenance-focused position requires previous experience with tennis court care or racquet facility operations.
The attendant will maintain Har-Tru, hard, grass, and French red clay tennis courts, as well as pickleball and paddle courts. The position also provides attentive service to members and guests, ensuring that every playing area meets Shell Bay’s high standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Court Maintenance
• Inspect all courts daily to ensure they are safe, clean, properly prepared, and ready for play.
• Maintain Har-Tru and French red clay courts through brushing, rolling, watering, lining, leveling, and minor surface repairs.
• Monitor clay court moisture, irrigation, drainage, and overall playing conditions.
• Maintain grass and hard courts, including surface cleaning, water removal, debris removal, and reporting areas requiring repair.
• Maintain pickleball and paddle courts, including surfaces, nets, fencing, glass, gates, and surrounding areas.
• Install, adjust, repair, or replace nets, center straps, windscreens, court lines, benches, scorecards, and other equipment.
• Prepare and restore courts for daily play, lessons, clinics, tournaments, and special events.
• Assist with court closures and reopening based on rain, weather, surface conditions, or safety concerns.
• Keep court entrances, walkways, seating areas, player stations, and storage rooms clean and organized.
• Safely operate and maintain rollers, brushes, sweepers, blowers, water-removal equipment, and other court-care tools.
• Monitor court supplies and notify management when materials, equipment, or repairs are needed.
Member and Guest Service
• Greet members and guests warmly and assist with court locations, towels, water, balls, and equipment.
• Ensure courts and player stations are fully prepared before scheduled playing times.
• Assist with ball machines, teaching baskets, scorecards, coolers, umbrellas, and other court amenities.
• Support tennis professionals with court and equipment setup for lessons, clinics, tournaments, and events.
• Communicate court conditions, delays, closures, and maintenance needs to the racquet sports team.
• Respond promptly and professionally to member and guest requests.
Racquet Services
• Racquet-stringing experience is strongly preferred.
• When qualified, provide stringing services according to player specifications, including string type and tension.
• Experience replacing grips, overgrips, grommets, and other basic racquet components is a plus.
• Maintain stringing equipment, tools, strings, and supplies in a clean and organized condition.

Qualifications
• Previous experience maintaining tennis courts, clay courts, athletic surfaces, or racquet facilities is required.
• Experience maintaining Har-Tru, French red clay, grass, and hard courts is strongly preferred.
• Previous tennis or racquet sports industry experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of clay court brushing, rolling, watering, lining, leveling, and repair techniques is highly desirable.
• Racquet-stringing experience is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining safe, clean, and professionally presented facilities.
• Excellent member-service and communication skills.
• Dependable, organized, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Basic knowledge of tennis, pickleball, paddle, court etiquette, and scoring is preferred.

Physical and Scheduling Requirements
• Ability to work outdoors in heat, humidity, sun, and changing weather conditions.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, push, pull, and perform repetitive physical tasks.
• Ability to safely lift and carry equipment and supplies weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely operate court-maintenance tools and equipment.
• Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, tournaments, and special events.

Preferred Experience
• Private club, luxury resort, country club, tennis academy, or high-end racquet facility experience.
• Experience maintaining multiple court surfaces.
• Racquet-stringing and basic racquet-repair experience.
• Experience supporting tournaments, clinics, and member events.
• Basic knowledge of irrigation, drainage, and preventive court maintenance.
