Job description

Are you looking for a rewarding and unique position that offers you the chance to make a difference in the community?

Bethesda Project currently has a rare vacancy for our โ€œLive-Inโ€ Residential Aide position at one of our residence. If you are interested in a rewarding position that compensates you with a rent/utility free apartment in Center City Philadelphia in return for your services as an Residential Aide. This position is a great opportunity that does not come around often, take advantage of it while you can. Ideally, the selected candidate will take possession of the residence and the duties associated with the role, no later than 30 days after acceptance of the assignment. However, other arrangements can be made as required.

Please note: If selected for the position, the individual(s) choosen for this role will perform the duties as described in exchange for FREE rent and utility forgiveness. You will be paid for any hours that you are scheduled to work and for any emergency response time.

Note: This may be a shared living accommodation that can accommodate up to two individuals.

The Overnight Residential Aide will provide presence and support to the residents. They will have the privilege of residing in the 2-bedroom apartment located in the rear of the first floor of the residence, in exchange for overnight duties as a Residential Aide.

Residential Aide must sign and complete a one-year lease and agreement which may be renewed on a month-to-month basis at the discretion of Bethesda Project.

Hours of Service:
  • Sunday through Saturday nights (7 nights per week), onsite in the main building from 8pm โ€“ 10pm, with every other weekend off, if shared among two individuals.
  • Two (2) weeks of vacation annually. This must be arranged in advance with the Program Coordinator.
  • Residential Aides are not responsible for coverage outside of the hours stated above unless mutually agreed upon with supervisor.

Living Arrangement:

  • Private lodging in the 2-bedroom apartment attached to the residence, as well as limited use of common areas and storage.
  • No children are permitted to live on premises
  • Only service animals are permitted onsite.
  • No alcoholic beverages may be consumed in common areas and when on duty.
  • Smoking is not permitted onsite.
  • Other guidelines as mutually agreed upon or as deemed necessary by Bethesda Project.
  • Parking may be available for one (1) vehicle onsite. If obtained, and upon receipt, annual Philadelphia Residential Parking Permit fee is available for reimbursement..

Skill/Educational Requirements:

  • High school diploma and experience working with persons who have histories of substance use, physical and/or mental health conditions.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational communication skills.
  • Team-oriented disposition.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires repetitive movement of hands and fingers for typing and/or writing. Ability to communicate and exchange information. Frequent standing, sitting, walking, and climbing stairs, occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching and lifting up to 35lbs. Ability to reach with hands and arms and perform audio and visual assessments, as required.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends, as required.
