Job description

Tennis Instructor

Under the direct supervision of the Tennis Coordinator, the Tennis Instructor will maintain a safe, professional, respectful, and positive atmosphere for our members and guests. Tennis Instructors will supervise tennis activities, techniques, and classes and ensure the tennis courts are in a safe, working order.

Essential Functions:

  • Teach and assist in classes
  • Lead private and semi-private appointments
  • Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the tennis center
  • Prior experience in tennis preferred
  • Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • USTA QuickStart qualified
  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of children, parents, co-workers, and adults.
  • General knowledge of the Edwardsville YMCA and offered activities
  • CPR/First Aid certification or obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of the community, social, and economic segments of the community.
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends
