Job description

Our client, a respected civil construction contractor, is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to oversee field operations for a major infrastructure project. This is an outstanding opportunity for a hands-on construction leader who can independently manage day-to-day operations, coordinate multiple subcontractors, and serve as the primary field representative for executive leadership.

The successful candidate will play a key role in a 2-year, $16 million sewer treatment plant construction project, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project plans and schedules.

Position Summary

The Construction Superintendent will be responsible for running daily field operations with minimal oversight from ownership. This individual will coordinate subcontractors, monitor project progress, ensure work is performed according to plans and specifications, and provide regular updates to company leadership through phone and video communication.

This role is ideal for a superintendent or high-level foreman ready to take ownership of a significant civil construction project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day field operations for a large-scale sewer plant construction project.

  • Coordinate and oversee multiple subcontractor crews, including:- Pipe laying

    • Utility installation
    • Concrete crews
    • Dirt work and site development
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and plans.

  • Ensure all scopes of work integrate properly and are completed according to design requirements.

  • Maintain project schedules by coordinating subcontractor activities and resolving workflow conflicts.

  • Monitor work quality and verify compliance with project plans and specifications.

  • Identify field issues and proactively develop solutions to keep the project moving forward.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all project-related field activities.

  • Communicate project status, schedule updates, and critical issues to executive leadership.

  • Utilize phone, computer, and video conferencing tools to provide updates and collaborate with ownership and project stakeholders.

  • Promote a safe, productive, and professional jobsite environment.

Qualifications
  • Prior experience as a Construction Superintendent preferred.

  • Foreman-level leadership experience in civil construction will also be considered.

  • Strong understanding of civil construction operations, including:- Heavy equipment

    • Earthwork and site preparation
    • Underground utilities
    • Concrete construction
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and project plans.

  • Proven experience coordinating multiple subcontractors and managing project schedules.
