Washington County Supportive Housing

Supportive housing is a successful, cost-effective combination of affordable housing with services that helps people live more stable, productive lives. Supportive housing works well for people who face the most complex challenges—individuals and families who have very low incomes and serious, persistent issues that may include substance use, mental illness, and may also be homeless, or at risk of homelessness.

A Support Housing Community Engagement Specialist is someone who helps individuals maintain and keep their home with the community.  In your role as a Community Engagement Specialist, you will work primarily in the field and help consumers develop and update Individualized Treatment Plans. In addition, you will serve as a member of the Mental Health Treatment Team and maintain communication with external programs and community resources.

 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work Psychology or related human services field from an accredited college or university.
  • Demonstrated ability to obtain vital information during an interview to make proper recommendations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial entitlement programs and available social services.
  • Must successfully obtain Criminal History Clearance from the PA State Police, Child Abuse Clearance from the PA Department of Human Services and FBI Fingerprint Clearances. 
  • Must not be excluded from participation in Medicare, Medicaid, or any other federal health care program.
  • Ability to transport oneself in an insured vehicle, as program needs dictate.
