Job description

Job Summary and Qualifications

We are currently seeking a Patient Safety Attendant to join our team. As our Safety Attendant you will participate in high-quality, patient-centered care by providing continuous observation and monitoring for high risk patients. While in collaboration with the patient care team, the PSA ensures the patient environment is free of obstacles and minimizes risk of falls of accidental or intentional self-harm. We are an amazing team that works hard to support each other and are seeking a phenomenal addition like you who feels patient care is as meaningful as we do. Your tasks and responsibilities may include:

• You will assist with basic activities of daily living.

• You will maintain a direct line of sight with patient at all times, including while family and visitors are in the room.

• You will accompany patients and ensure patient safety during transportation, testing, and procedures occurring away from the patient’s normal environment.

• You will establish a safe, risk-free patient environment by utilizing knowledge of fall prevention protocols, infection control measures, and self-harm prevention. You will perform room assessment regularly and after any visitations.

• You will monitor your patients’ physical and emotional condition. You will also report any changes in status promptly while remaining direct line of sight with the patient

• You will intervene as needed to prevent patient your patients’ from harming self or others seeking immediate assistance for escalating incidents.

Qualifications:

• One year experience in a healthcare setting is preferred

• Current AHA (American Heart Association) BLS (Basic Life Support) required on all clinical nursing units

• Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skills 

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
