Final Inspector

The Final Inspector is responsible for inspecting finished crankshafts to ensure conformance to engineering specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements prior to packaging and shipment. This role serves as the final quality checkpoint by performing detailed visual and dimensional inspections, identifying nonconforming products, and ensuring only approved parts are released to the customer.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform final inspection of completed crankshafts prior to packaging and shipment to ensure compliance with all quality standards.
  • Approve outgoing parts by verifying specifications through detailed visual and dimensional inspections.
  • Verify part dimensions using precision measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, gauges, and specialized inspection equipment.
  • Conduct visual inspections to detect surface defects, damage, or other nonconforming features.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, control plans, and work instructions to understand product requirements and tolerances.
  • Confirm finished products meet all specifications prior to final release.
  • Identify nonconforming parts and segregate them according to quality procedures.
  • Reject and return unacceptable products to production for rework, clearly documenting the reason for rejection.
  • Reinspect reworked parts to confirm corrections meet required specifications before approval.
  • Document inspection results accurately in quality systems, reports, and production logs, including pass/fail status, scrap, and rework data.
  • Ensure traceability and proper labeling of finished crankshafts.
  • Notify supervisors and quality personnel of defects, trends, or recurring quality concerns.
  • Frequent handling, positioning, and movement of metal components.
  • Maintain measurement and inspection equipment by following proper handling and operating instructions.
  • Keep the inspection area clean, organized, and audit-ready in alignment with 5S and quality standards.
  • Assist with layered process audits and additional quality checks as assigned.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following company safety procedures, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to document inspection results and maintain records.
  • Near Visual Acuity level J1 evaluated at 14-16 inches, with or without corrective lenses.
  • Distance Visual Acuity minimum 20/30, with or without corrective lenses.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods during 8โ€“12-hour shifts.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to work safely in a production environment with exposure to noise, moving machinery, and metal materials.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1โ€“3 years of experience in final inspection, manufacturing, or a machining environment.
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) concepts.
  • Familiarity with automotive or precision manufacturing quality standards and processes.
  • Previous experience in a final inspection, quality technician, or quality assurance role.
