L'infirmier(ere) de salle d'operation fournit des soins perioperatoires aux patients devant subir une intervention chirurgicale, tout en respectant les valeurs, les politiques et les normes de pratique du departement et de la profession infirmiere. La personne titulaire du poste peut egalement etre appelee a travailler en salle de reveil (PACU), selon les besoins operationnels.

Principales responsabilites:

  • Demontre une connaissance generale des soins infirmiers, des principes, des standards et des techniques en salle d'operation;
  • Procure les soins peri-operatoires aux patients qui doivent subir une chirurgie en minimisant les risques associes aux chirurgies;
  • Planifie et participe aux soins des patients en tant qu'infirmiere en service externe, en service interne ou d'infirmiere chef d'equipe et assure des soins securitaires et de qualite;
  • Demontre des connaissances des principes medicaux et chirurgicaux ainsi que des techniques d'asepsie, lorsqu'elle agit a titre d'infirmiere en service externe, d'infirmiere en service interne ou d'infirmiere chef d'equipe;
  • Applique les principes des techniques d'asepsie lors de la manipulation des instruments chirurgicaux, de l'equipement sterile et du materiel sterile;
  • S'assure que la salle d'operation est prete a recevoir le patient;
  • S'assure que toutes les normes preoperatoires sont respectees pour chaque patient.
  • Assure la securite et le confort du client lors de son transport et a l'accueil en salle d'operation;
  • Contribue a l'induction paisible et securitaire de chaque patient;
  • S'assure que des soins competents et attentifs sont prodigues a chaque client pendant la phase operatoire;
  • S'assure que toutes les normes de soins postoperatoires sont respectees pour chaque patient.
  • Identifie les problemes de soins infirmiers et aide a les solutionner;

Qualifications requises:

  • Diplome d'etudes collegiales en soins infirmiers ou un Baccalaureat en sciences infirmieres

Job Summary:

The Operating Room Nurse provides perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures while adhering to departmental philosophies, policies, and professional nursing standards. The successful candidate may also be required to work in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) as needed to support operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates general knowledge of nursing care, including principles, standards, and techniques in the operating room;
  • Provides perioperative care to patients undergoing surgery, minimizing associated risks;
  • Plans and participates in patient care as a circulating nurse, scrub nurse, or charge nurse, ensuring safe and high-quality care;
  • Demonstrates knowledge of medical and surgical principles as well as aseptic techniques when acting in the role of circulating nurse, scrub nurse, or charge nurse;
  • Applies aseptic technique principles when handling surgical instruments, sterile equipment, and supplies;
  • Ensures the operating room is ready to receive the patient;
  • Ensures all preoperative standards are met for each patient;
  • Ensures patient safety and comfort during transport and upon arrival in the operating room;
  • Contributes to a calm and safe induction for each patient;
  • Ensures competent and attentive care is provided to each patient during the intraoperative phase;
  • Ensures all postoperative care standards are met for each patient;
  • Identifies nursing care issues and assists in resolving them;
  • Ensures all perioperative care is documented in the patient's care plan and meets each patient's surgical needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • College diploma in nursing or a Bachelor of Science in nursing
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the operating room
  • Acute care experience (an asset)
  • Orthopedic experience (an asset)
  • Certification in perioperative care (an asset)
  • Member in good standing of the O.I.I.Q
  • Bilingual (French and English) spoken and written
