Job description

Permanent Glaucoma Ophthalmology Opportunity in Richmond, VA

You've got an opportunity to step into an established ophthalmology practice with immediate patient demand and a clear runway to build your surgical volume. This is a Glaucoma position. If you're looking for a stable home with supportive staff and a path to long-term growth, let's talk.

Practice Overview

  • Team support includes experienced ophthalmic technicians, a dedicated scribe, and an on-site practice manager.
  • Full-spectrum care with high-volume cataracts as the core; minor procedures and in-office lasers supported.
  • Surgery performed at a nearby surgery center with dedicated ophthalmology OR support and blocked time available.

Schedule

  • Clinic hours Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., with a 4-day workweek option (flex up to 5 days if desired)
  • Typical structure: 3 clinic days + 1-1.5 surgery days as you ramp; surgery can be full or half days based on preference
  • No local hospital call requirement; after-hours coverage is for established clinic patients only with triage support
  • High patient demand, clinic, and cataract access are currently backed up, creating immediate volume for a new physician.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Guaranteed base salary: 400,000-450,000 (negotiable based on experience and scope)
  • Year 1 guaranteed; then 30% of net professional collections (no threshold) with quarterly true-ups
  • Sign-on bonus starting at 50,000 plus 10,000 grossed-up relocation assistance
  • Comprehensive benefits: malpractice with tail, 401(k) with 3% match, CME (3 days + 3,400), PTO (15 days + holidays), licensing/DEA/dues covered

Candidate Requirements

  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Ophthalmology (non-board-certified not considered)
  • Comfort with adult/geriatric ophthalmology and high-volume cataract surgery
  • We consider new grads/residents and experienced physicians; we prefer those ready to grow with the practice.
