Description
The Student Tutor provide academic support to students in their given area. This could include working hands (with instructor present) on and/or explaining theory concepts. This position is designated for student employment and is anticipated to begin at the start of the Fall 2026 semester through the '26 -'27 Academic Year.
Examples of Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Communicate concepts effectively, patiently and positively explaining and answering student questions.
  • Avoid doing student work for them.
  • Be in communication with course instructor and supervisor; promptly reply to emails.
  • Be on time and tutor scheduled hours.
  • Keep accurate Peer Tutor Log.
  • Submit Peer Tutor Log every 2 weeks when completing Time Entry in Self Service

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Tutor in given content area.

Typical Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities:
  • Overall GPA 3.5
  • Program GPA 3.0
  • Strong content knowledge and ability to accurately and effectively communicate content information as determined by course instructor.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
  • Recommendation/referral of course instructor required.

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to navigate to greet and welcome visitors to the Academic Center.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
