What is a live in Odoo developer?

A Live In Odoo Developer is a professional who specializes in developing, customizing, and maintaining Odoo ERP systems while residing onsite, often at the client’s business location. This role involves working directly with a company to implement and tailor Odoo modules according to business needs, troubleshoot issues in real-time, and provide immediate technical support. The ‘live in’ aspect allows for closer collaboration with other team members and a deeper understanding of the company's workflows. Developers in this role typically have expertise in Python, Odoo’s framework, and business process analysis. Their presence onsite enables faster deployment and ongoing optimization of Odoo solutions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a live in Odoo developer?

To thrive as a Live In Odoo Developer, you need strong programming skills in Python, experience with Odoo's framework, and a solid grasp of ERP concepts, typically backed by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with Odoo modules, PostgreSQL, web development tools, and relevant Odoo certifications is highly valuable. Effective communication, problem-solving, and the ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders are standout soft skills. These competencies ensure efficient customization, seamless integration, and ongoing support of Odoo solutions tailored to business needs.

Software Developer
K2J Marketing Partners is seeking an experienced Odoo Developer with a strong command of Python and a proven track record in the end-to-end implementation of custom modules in Odoo. As a crucial member of our dynamic team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our Odoo implementation and contribute to the overall success of our organization.

Reporting to the Director of IT, you will work closely with current team members to understand operational challenges, translate business needs into practical system solutions, and develop, test, deploy, and support Odoo enhancements.

This is not a traditional help-desk role. The ideal candidate combines strong Odoo development skills with a practical understanding of warehouse and supply chain operations and enjoys seeing how technology improvements translate into measurable operational results.

Objectives and Responsibilities
Odoo Development & System Management
•                     Design, develop, test, document, and maintain custom Odoo modules and system enhancements.
•                     Manage and support Odoo.sh development workflows, including Git branches, builds, staging validation, production deployments, logs, dependencies, and upgrade readiness.
•                     Configure and customize models, fields, views, menus, reports, QWeb templates, automated actions, workflows, access rights, and record rules.
•                     Troubleshoot failed builds, server errors, scheduled jobs, data issues, integrations, security issues, and system performance problems.
•                     Build and maintain API and webhook integrations with eCommerce, shipping, finance, reporting, and other business applications.
•                     Follow structured testing, documentation, deployment, and change-management practices to maintain system stability and data integrity.
•                     Plan and execute controlled data imports, migrations, reconciliations, and master-data cleanup involving products, packaging, locations, lots, expiration dates, and opening inventory.
•                     Develop automated tests for custom modules and maintain documented deployment, validation, and rollback procedures.
•                     Prototype and validate major workflow changes through controlled pilots before warehouse-wide deployment.
•                     Inventory, WMS & Supply Chain
•                     Configure and improve Odoo Inventory, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and warehouse-related workflows.
•                     Work directly with warehouse employees and supervisors to test systems.
•                     Investigate inventory discrepancies and system-related operational issues and recommend practical solutions.
•                     Business Systems & Process Improvement
•                     Translate operational needs into functional requirements, technical solutions, test cases, and implementation plans.
•                     Partner with the Director of IT and cross-functional stakeholders to identify, prioritize, and implement system improvements.
•                     Evaluate whether business needs are best addressed through standard Odoo configuration, automation, customization, or custom development.
•                     Coordinate with Odoo, external developers, and technology vendors when additional technical support or escalation is needed.
•                     Maintain system documentation, user guides, SOPs, testing records, and changing documentation.
•                     Train employees on Odoo workflows, system updates, and new functionality.
•                     Support user acceptance testing, data validation, system releases, and post-launch support.
•                     Support additional business applications and integration as needed, with Odoo remaining the primary focus of the role.
•                     To lead our next-generation automation initiatives. You will embed Artificial Intelligence directly into our ERP ecosystem. Your primary mission is to build intelligent workflows that eliminate manual entry by auto-generating invoices, predicting purchase order trends, and dynamically managing project tasks.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
•             2+ years of hands-on Odoo development and administration experience in a production environment, or equivalent Odoo project experience.
•             Demonstrated experience developing or significantly customizing Odoo modules beyond basic Odoo Studio configuration.
•             Hands-on experience with Odoo.sh, Git, development/staging/production environments, build troubleshooting, AI automation tools and controlled deployments.
•             Strong working knowledge of Python, Odoo ORM, XML, QWeb, PostgreSQL concepts, and Git.
•             Functional knowledge of Odoo Inventory, including warehouse locations, operation types, routes, replenishment, reservations, packages, lots, and traceability.
•             Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
•             Ability to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.

•             Experience integrating ERP systems with eCommerce platforms.
