Job description


Faulkner University's College of Health Sciences is seeking a qualified individual for a teaching faculty position who desires to educate health care professionals in a Christ-centered environment. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching graduate level courses in the Occupational Therapy Doctoral Program, advising students and maintaining an active research agenda. We are seeking candidates who have a passion for student engagement and advancing the mission of the university and the college. Faulkner University is a Christian university affiliated with the churches of Christ.
This is a full-time, 12 month position. Faculty rank, tenure status and salary will be commensurate with academic qualifications, teaching experience, and research. Opportunities for clinical practice will be available.
Qualifications:
  • An earned doctorate (e.g., PhD, DSc, ScD, EdD, OTD) from an accredited university
    Note: Only candidates who are occupational therapy practitioners and who hold a doctoral degree may teach occupational therapy content within the program's entry-level Doctorate in Occupational Therapy program, in line with ACOTE accreditation standards.
  • A degree in Occupational Therapy from a program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) or by the World Federation of Occupation Therapist (WFOT).
  • Initial registry certification by the national Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) and documented clinical experience/expertise
  • Occupational therapy licensure in the state of Alabama or eligibility to secure a license
  • Potential for scholarship and research, including but not limited to the pursuit of external funding and publications
  • Teaching experience in higher education (preferred) and a strong commitment to student success
  • Demonstrated Christian faith and commitment to integrating biblical principles into teaching
  • Active member of the church of Christ preferred
