Job description


KABB/WOAI is looking for an aggressive, take-charge General Assignment Reporter to help us continue to grow our audience and empower our viewers. We're looking for a motivated, energetic, and creative reporter who can gather information and enterprise new stories. You should have sound writing skills, a great work ethic, and a can-do attitude. The ideal candidate should be able to think on their feet, have excellent live shot skills, and thrive on breaking stories.
No day will look the same as a Reporter, however, the main responsibilities will include:
  • Create, gather, and write meaningful and engaging stories for newscasts, websites, and social media platforms
  • Provide news on air as directed by news management
  • Engage with local community members
  • Review material for fairness, accuracy, and balance
  • Work closely with all team members, including Producers, Editors, Anchors, and News Director

Additionally, this person should:
  • Have proven knowledge and experience working with current media creation tools and contemporary newsroom systems
  • Excel in storytelling across multiple platforms
  • Possess strong writing and copy-editing skills
  • Have 2 years' reporting experience
  • A bachelor's degree in journalism or related field preferred
  • Be able to work well under pressure
