Their duties often include preparing meals, helping with homework, organizing activities, and sometimes light housekeeping related to the children. Having a live-in nanny offers families greater flexibility, as the nanny is typically available for longer or irregular hours. In return, live-in nannies usually receive room and board as part of their compensation. They play a vital role in supporting busy households and ensuring consistent, personalized care for children.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a live-in nanny, and why are they important?

Familiarity with household management tools, scheduling apps, and sometimes early childhood education systems is highly valued. Exceptional communication, patience, and adaptability help you build trust with both children and parents. These skills ensure a safe, nurturing environment and allow nannies to effectively support family routines and children's well-being.

What are some common challenges faced by live-in nannies and how can they be managed?

Live-in nannies often face challenges related to maintaining professional boundaries while living in their employer's home. Job description

Overview
NATIONWIDE SEARCH: NEW BRAUNFELS, TX - A warm, active family of six living on the Guadalupe River in New Braunfels is seeking a full-time Live-In Nanny / House Manager to become a long-term part of their household. Mom is a dentist who owns her own practice, and Dad owns several businesses and works from home regularly. Their four children are ages 14, 11, 8, and 6. The family has two small dogs and a wonderful history of long-term live-in nannies, with their previous three staying four years, just over a year, and nearly two years, respectively. They are hoping to find their next great fit.
Christian faith is important to this family, and they are looking for someone whose values align well with theirs. They love sports, entertaining, spending time together, and eating well. Healthy living and wholesome, nutritious food are a priority in this household, and they would love someone who genuinely enjoys meal planning and cooking for kids.
This is a hybrid role split roughly evenly between childcare and household management. On the childcare side, responsibilities include school drop-off and pick-up, transportation to practices, games, and activities, keeping the children organized, and being a genuine and caring presence in their daily lives. On the household side, responsibilities include grocery shopping, family and children's laundry, meal preparation and occasional family dinners, and keeping the home organized and running smoothly day to day. A professional cleaning team comes weekly, so this role is about management and flow rather than deep cleaning.
The ideal candidate is kind, patient, highly organized, dependable, and self-motivated. They are looking for someone committed to a long-term placement who truly wants to become part of the family. Fluent Spanish is a significant plus as two of the youngest children are enrolled in a Spanish Emergent school program. A background as an athlete is also a bonus given how much of this family's life revolves around practices, games, and sporting events.
The position is approximately 30 to 40 hours per week with a flexible weekday schedule and most weekends off. Compensation is $25-30 gross per hour, based on experience, via payroll. The position includes a private bedroom, private bathroom, room and board, and use of a family vehicle during working hours.
