Description of position:The Bioinformatics Programis seeking a qualified candidate to teachtwomicro-credentialswithin the Bioinformaticsprogramin Proteomics and Metabolomics Applications and Protein Engineering Applications.

Proteomics and Metabolomics Applicationsfocuson the analysis of proteins and metabolites and their roles in biological systems. Topics may include protein and metabolite identification, biomarker discovery, biological pathways, mass spectrometry-based analysis, multi-omics integration, and biological data interpretation. Students develop practical skills using contemporary bioinformatics and analytical tools to investigate real-world biological questions.

Protein Engineering Applications focuses oncomputationalanalysis, prediction, design, and optimization of proteins for research and industrial applications. Topics may include protein structure and function, structural bioinformatics, molecular interactions, protein engineering, and artificial intelligence applications in biology. Students gain hands-onexperience with contemporary protein modeling and design tools such as AlphaFold,RFdiffusion, andProteinMPNN, and develop practical skills using computational workflows commonly employed in biotechnology, pharmaceutical research, and drug discovery

Duties will include:

  • Development and delivery of curriculum, laboratories, and learning activities for bioinformatics micro-credentials

  • Preparation and delivery of course materials and instruction

  • Maintaining office hours and availability to consult with students

  • Evaluating student performance and providing constructive feedback

  • Supporting student projects involving biological data analysis and computational biology applications

  • Attending meetings in theProgramand College

  • Contributing to the ongoing development of the Bioinformatics Program and micro-credential offerings

Education and Experience:

  • MSc in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Proteomics, or a related discipline; PhD preferred

  • Post-secondary teaching experience preferred

  • Demonstratedexpertisein one or more areas including proteomics, metabolomics, bioinformatics, computational biology, structural bioinformatics, or protein engineering

  • Industry or research experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical sciences, bioinformatics, omics technologies, or related fields is an asset

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English

  • Excellent understanding of and ability to teach fundamental concepts in bioinformatics and life sciences

  • Demonstrated application of current scientific, computational, and pedagogical practices

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
