Job description

Job Title: Steel Project Engineer

Are you looking for an opportunity to build your career in steel construction? Join our team and work on exciting commercial and industrial projects supporting the planning, fabrication, and installation of structural steel. In this role, you’ll help drive schedules, coordinate materials and subcontractors, and keep field and shop operations moving safely and efficiently. You Must CURRENTLY live in Texas. Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
Position Details:
  • Assist with estimating, takeoffs, and pricing for structural steel fabrication and erection scopes.
  • Track RFIs, submittals, and change orders; estimate impacts and keep documentation current.
  • Coordinate procurement and delivery of steel, decking, joists, embeds, bolts, and consumables, support vendor and subcontractor selection.
  • Support scheduling and coordination between the field, fabrication shop, detailers, and general contractors to meet milestones.
  • Assist with quality and safety requirements (bolt-up, weld inspections, lift plans, and site logistics) and help resolve day-to-day field issues.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and shop/erection plans (AISC familiarity preferred).
  • Working knowledge of steel construction processes (fabrication, detailing coordination, erection sequencing, bolt-up/welding basics).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfortable coordinating with field crews, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (especially Excel); experience with construction/project management software and/or CAD/detailing tools is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field—or equivalent steel construction experience.
