Job description

A postdoctoral fellowship position is available in the Department of Imaging Physics in the laboratory of Ke Li, PhD. Dr. Li's research program focuses on the development of next-generation computed tomography (CT) and cone-beam CT technologies and their translation into cancer imaging, image-guided radiation therapy, and image-guided surgical interventions. The laboratory offers a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary research environment with access to world-class medical imaging facilities, computational resources, clinical collaborators, and large-scale imaging datasets.
The successful candidate will contribute to innovative research at the intersection of physics, medicine, and engineering.
Current research projects include, but are not limited to:
• Development of photon-counting detector CT and cone-beam CT hardware and reconstruction algorithms to improve cancer detection, characterization, and precision in cancer treatment.
• Development and validation of advanced CT image reconstruction, artifact reduction, and post-processing techniques.
• Quantitative evaluation of deep learning-based CT reconstruction and image analysis algorithms.
• Explore and validate new clinical applications of quantitative and spectral CT and cone-beam CT.
All duties and responsibilities are carried out in compliance with institutional policies, ethical research standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The postdoctoral fellow will participate in highly productive interdisciplinary research spanning diagnostic radiology, image-guided radiation therapy, and image-guided surgery. Through these projects, the fellow will gain expertise in photon-counting detector physics, CT and cone-beam CT image reconstruction and artifact reduction techniques, Spectral CT and material decomposition, quantitative image quality assessment, virtual lesion insertion and imaging simulation, Monte Carlo-based imaging and detector simulation, and 2D-3D image registration.
The successful candidate will be expected to conduct independent and collaborative research, present research findings at laboratory meetings, seminars, or conferences, publish results in peer-reviewed journals, prepare abstracts, technical reports, and research proposals, and contribute to the development of new research initiatives and collaborative projects.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. in Physics, Applied Physics, or Medical Physics by the start date of the appointment. Candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas are preferred: CT image reconstruction, Monte Carlo simulation, medical image registration, radiation detection and instrumentation, or related fields in medical imaging physics. Strong programming and quantitative analytical skills are highly desirable. This appointment is a research position and is not part of a clinical training program.
ADDITIONAL APPLICATION INFORMATION
The initial appointment is for one year from the date of hire, with the possibility of renewal based on performance, funding availability, and mutual agreement.
POSITION INFORMATION
MD Anderson offers full-time postdoc positions with a salary ranging from $64,000 to $76,000 . depending on the number of years of postgraduate experience.
