Description
The Lead Mechanical Engineer is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the mechanical engineering function for one or more processing areas within mining and minerals processing operations, with a focus on cobalt, nickel and lithium processing and production. This position requires a strategic and experienced engineering leader with 7-10 years of experience and a proven track record in team management, project execution, and technical problem-solving. The Lead Mechanical Engineer will drive engineering strategy, optimize resource allocation, and ensure successful delivery of complex projects while leading and developing a high-performing engineering team.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field from an accredited program (Master's degree preferred).
  • 7-10 years of progressive engineering experience in mining, mineral processing, power generation, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Minimum of 3 years of engineering management or project leadership experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain within one year; PMP certification is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including material handling, fluid systems, rotating equipment, and processing infrastructure.
  • Proven experience managing complex projects, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and execution.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and develop new or improved engineering methods and processes.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
