Are You Actually Awesome at Retail? We're hiring a Housewares and Wine Sales Manager.
If you're a superstar at retail, this is your ticket to turn that talent into a career at a store you'll actually enjoy coming to work in, in a small Ohio downtown that's the stuff of Norman Rockwell dreams.
We're known as the Fun Store — we sell wine, coffee, chocolate, gourmet olive oil, and top-shelf cutlery, cookware, and cool kitchen gadgets — and we and our staff have fun with our customers.
Yeah, there's work, but engaging customers, hospitality, and having fun is a core part of the job. And if you're amazing at retail, you understand exactly why and how we do that.
But unlike most retail jobs, this management position pays well, has true upward mobility, and ensures you'll be working with and managing a great team.
What do we mean by pays well?
  • Salaried full-time position, $65,000 to $70,000, plus quarterly bonus after 90 days based on team sales goals attainment
  • Health insurance plan with premium supplementation by employer
  • Paid holidays, vacations, and personal days
  • Ability to move up — we're adding new stores, so store manager is an attainable position
  • Generous employee discount program, which helps since we sell gourmet coffee, olive oil, wine, kitchenware, appliances, beds, and TVs
  • Quarterly team celebrations
  • Live in a family-oriented small town community with great schools and an attractive cost of living

So what do we need from you?You need to be a multi-tasker, capable of prioritizing multiple projects at a time while keeping team member skills and abilities in mind.
You need to be a motivator, with a servant-leadership style. You'll be managing other people while working shoulder to shoulder with them. And your success will come from being able to recruit, train, and motivate your team with goals and performance expectations.
You need to be a communicator, with great listening skills and the ability to run store meetings, coordinate staff on the floor, produce newsletters, and more.
In addition to those core skills, you'll need to have:
  • Minimum 5 years retail sales/hospitality management experience
  • Minimum 3 years team building and training experience
  • An ability to create, plan and execute product trainings, events and sales contests
  • Proven track record of recruiting, supervising, scheduling, training, developing, and inspiring a team
  • Availability to work most Saturdays and some evenings
  • Capability to safely lift loads in excess of 35 pounds
  • Strong computer and mathematical skills
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Strong dedication to exceptional customer/guest service
  • A passion for food, cooking and wine
  • A love for learning and sharing product knowledge, cooking skills, etc.
