The Lead Cook is responsible for overseeing the preparation, production, and presentation of Pan Asian cuisine to ensure every dish meets the high culinary standards of Live! Casino & Hotel. This role plays a critical part in executing authentic recipes, maintaining proper food temperatures, and ensuring consistent flavor profiles across all menu items. Your ability to lead by example on the line, uphold strict sanitation and safety practices, and manage daily food inventories directly contributes to an exceptional dining experience for guests. By demonstrating advanced culinary techniques, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to quality, you help support the overall success of the kitchen and reinforce the elevated reputation of our Pan Asian dining offerings.

Compensation: $22.00/hr

Responsibilities

Where You'll Make an Impact:

  • Preparing and maintaining the temperature of the items.
  • Seasoning and garnishing food.
  • Preparing all soups and sauces.
  • Keeping the cooking area clean and in an orderly state.
  • Maintaining inventory and ordering food items on a daily basis.
  • Ensure the safety and security of employees and guests.
  • Monitor and adjust performance to local competition as warranted.

Skills to Help You Succeed:

  • Ability to:
    • Use all kitchen equipment and appliances
    • Read and write basic instructions in English
    • Read and interpret production lists, menus, and banquet event orders.
    • Complete accurate record-keeping
    • Communicate in English and fluency in either Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese or other Asian Languages.
  • Knowledge of sanitation and health department regulations for safe handling of food
  • Creativity in cooking and food preparation.
Qualifications

Must-Haves:

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Culinary arts courses or equivalent experience in Asian Cuisine.
  • One (1) - three (3) years experience as a line of restaurant cook in Asian restaurants.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the necessary license as mandated by the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time without sitting or leaning.
  • Ability to bend, stoop and reach while carrying food products, equipment, trash/waste weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to lift, carry, deliver food items weighing up to 50 pounds throughout a scheduled shift.
  • Ability to work around 500-degree ovens and work within 40-degree walk-in refrigerators.
  • Ability to stand and walk continually throughout a 10 hr. shift.
  • Use of stairs and elevators

Working Conditions:

  • 24/7 high energy casino with over 300,000 sq. ft of gaming and entertainment space and approximately 3000 employees
  • Exposed to alcohol, cigarette and cigar smoke, bright lights, and loud noises.
  • You will work in an environment where smoking is allowed.
