Job Title: Machine Operator

Job Summary

Machine Operator to run and maintain a high-speed converting line that manufactures premium drawstring trash bags


Duties/Responsibilities:

โ€ข Set up, operate, and monitor high-speed converting equipment including unwinders, folders, sealers, perforators, drawstring insertion stations, , and automated packaging systems

โ€ข Perform frequent quality checks on bag dimensions, seal strength, drawstring placement, perforation quality, print registration, and overall bag integrity

โ€ข Load parent rolls (up to 2,000+ lbs) using roll carts, or powered lift equipment

โ€ข Thread film through the machine, adjust tensions, align drawstrings, and ensure proper folding/sealing parameters

โ€ข Troubleshoot and resolve common machine faults, film breaks, drawstring jams, sealing issues, and timing problems

โ€ข Conduct preventive maintenance and basic repairs (change seals, blades, perforator knives, belts, etc.

โ€ข Accurately record production data, downtime, scrap rates, and material usage in the plantโ€™s ERP/HMI system

โ€ข Maintain a clean and organized work area following 5S and safety standards

โ€ข Assist with roll changes, product changeovers, new SKUs, and line clearances

โ€ข Work closely with Quality Technicians, Maintenance Mechanics, and Material Handlers to maximize line efficiency and OEE


Required Skills/Abilities:

โ€ข High school diploma or GED required

โ€ข 2+ years of experience operating high-speed converting, flexographic printing, bag-making, or similar automated packaging equipment strongly preferred

โ€ข Proven mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills

โ€ข Ability to read and interpret production schedules, spec sheets, and basic blueprints

โ€ข Comfortable working with HMI touchscreens and computerized controls

โ€ข Basic math skills and attention to detail (critical for quality inspections)

โ€ข Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly and stand for entire 12-hour shift

โ€ข Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and rotating shifts

โ€ข Forklift / overhead crane certification is a plus


Education and Experience:

โ€ข High School diploma or GED required, formal technical training or certifications in maintenance or mechanics highly preferred.

โ€ข Minimum 5+ years of experience in maintenance, preferably within blown film extrusion or

related plastic manufacturing environments.
