JOB TITLE: Temporary Part Time Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Instructor
CLASSIFICATION: Part Time, Exempt
PRIORITY DATE: July 31, 2026

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Current Pennsylvania EMS provider certification in good standing at the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Advanced Medical Technician (AEMT), or Paramedic level
  • Current Pennsylvania EMS Instructor certification or the ability to meet Pennsylvania Department of Health Bureau of EMS instructor requirements before teaching EMS certification courses
  • Certified CPR/First Aid Instructor, or ability to obtain certification within six months of hire, through Red Cross, Emergency Care Safety Institute (ECSI), or an equivalent provider accepted by NPRC for assigned programming
  • Current National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) Instructor certification, or ability to obtain certification within six months of hire
  • Minimum of three years of EMS field practice, EMS education, public safety instruction, or directly related emergency services experience
  • Current professional experience and demonstrated subject matter expertise sufficient to skillfully instruct others in EMS knowledge, skills, and professional practice
  • Familiarity with course content delivery through a learning management system or willingness to quickly acquire those necessary skills
  • Proficiency with instructional technology, including Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Learning Management System platforms
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, classroom management, and instructional communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3 years of experience teaching EMS Programs. (EMT, AEMT, and/or Paramedic)
  • Knowledge of program accreditation with The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) The Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP)
  • Experience delivering instruction in competency-based education (CBE) environments
  • Familiarity with rural EMS systems and workforce development strategies
  • Experience developing or managing clinical rotations or partnerships

POSITION SUMMARY:
Northern Pennsylvania Regional College (NPRC) is hiring temporary part-time EMS Instructors to teach EMS courses, EMS continuing education, and CPR/First Aid programming on a regular basis. NPRC is hiring instructors for Titusville, Bradford, and Coudersport, Pennsylvania regions.
Instructors will deliver live online instruction, in-person classroom instruction, and hands-on lab training at assigned NPRC locations. They will lead skills labs, assess student performance, maintain required course records, prepare classrooms and equipment, and assist with coordinating EMS programming in their assigned classrooms.
Instructors will work with supervisors, full-time EMS instructors, workforce development staff, part-time instructors, partner agencies, and students to ensure consistent course delivery, regulatory compliance, and student success.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Maintain regular, recurring availability to teach and support EMS courses, EMS continuing education, EMS refresher courses, CPR/AED, First Aid, Basic Life Support (BLS), NAEMT, and related public safety programming on at least a monthly basis, including evening and weekend schedules as needed.
  • Deliver instruction for EMS certification courses, EMS refresher and continuing education offerings, CPR/AED, First Aid, BLS, NAEMT, and other related programs in accordance with instructor credentials, course requirements, and program needs.
  • Assist with coordination of EMS programming at the assigned classroom location, including course setup, classroom readiness, skills lab preparation, equipment checks, supply needs, instructional materials, and day-of-course logistics.
  • Facilitate hands-on laboratory instruction, simulation activities, scenario-based learning, practical skills stations, active student participation, and document skills competency .
  • Use NPRC-supported instructional technology, including real-time interactive video, Microsoft Teams, learning management systems, and classroom technology
  • Assess student performance through written assignments, examinations, skill evaluations, scenario evaluations, practical competency documentation, and other approved assessment methods
  • Maintain accurate attendance, grade, evaluation, skills, and student performance records in accordance with NPRC procedures, program standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure instructional activities comply with applicable Pennsylvania Department of Health Bureau of EMS regulations, program standards, and National EMS Education Standards
  • Prepare, maintain, and properly use course outlines, lesson plans, instructional materials, lab supplies, and EMS equipment needed for effective instruction
  • Communicate equipment, supply, technology, scheduling, classroom, and student concerns promptly to the Assistant Director of Workforce Development - Public Safety or designee
  • Coordinate with full-time EMS faculty, other part-time instructors, clinical and field partners, local EMS agencies, community partners, and NPRC staff to support consistent program delivery
  • Support customized EMS, CPR/First Aid, and public safety training for employers, agencies, schools, and community partners
  • Support diverse student populations in classroom, laboratory, simulation, and hands-on learning environments
  • Facilitate EMS skills activities that may require standing, kneeling, lifting or moving training equipment, and supporting scenario-based practice
  • Work effectively with supervisors, colleagues, staff, students, and external partners as part of an education team
  • Travel occasionally for instruction, program support, and partnership development

  • Consistent access to a vehicle

WORKING CONDITIONS/WORK SCHEDULE:
  • Office Location: various locations throughout Pennsylvania
  • Work hours: Work hours vary to accommodate course scheduling and may include evenings and weekends
  • Temporary Part Time Employees may not work more than 20 hours per week without prior written approval from the Program Director and Human Resources

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Regional travel is required
