Job description

We seek to move the world forward through innovative thinking.
Woolpert is an award-winning, global leader in architecture, engineering, and geospatial services. We blend design excellence with cutting-edge technology to deliver exceptional client value. Our team is passionate about their work and committed to building the next generation of industry leaders, and as a certified Great Place to Work®, Woolpert embraces progress and innovation to create limitless opportunities for career growth.
Woolpert is hiring an Interior Designer to join our Interiors Discipline supporting our dynamic Mission Critical / Data Center practice. This position reports to the Interiors Discipline Team Leader and is responsible for assisting with the planning, design, and coordination of interior spaces in the design, planning, and delivery of highly technical workplace interior environments within mission critical and data center facilities.
This role includes developing interior design concepts, producing design documentation and high-quality renderings, and collaborating closely with the architectural team to ensure a fully integrated design approach. The position requires experience in interior systems, materials, detailing, and coordination-particularly where interiors intersect with complex infrastructure, MEP systems, and operational requirements.
You will serve as a trusted technical and design resource, working collaboratively with project managers, architects, designers, and consulting partners to support design quality and successful project outcomes. This role requires the ability to engage effectively with experienced professionals, contribute to integrated architectural and interior design solutions, and communicate clearly through all phases of design and delivery.
This position is ideal for a technically and creatively driven interior designer who thrives in mission critical environments, values collaboration with architectural partners, and is ready to grow as an emerging design leader within the firm.
We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position. Applicants must already possess work authorization in the country the job is located. #LI-SN1
What You Will Do:
  • Support specific technical aspects of interior projects, from assessment through coordinated solutions and documentation.
  • Prepare detailed interior design documentation and specifications, supporting coordinated project delivery.
  • Develop and support interior design deliverables, including space planning, finish concepts, and FF&E, while assisting in oversight to ensure design intent and project milestones are met.
  • Create presentation materials to communicate design concepts, options, and recommendations to internal teams and clients (as assigned).
  • Collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary project team, including architects, engineers, and consultants, to coordinate interior scope, resolve design challenges, and support integrated project delivery.
  • Coordinate with project leadership and other disciplines to resolve interior design requirements and maintain alignment across deliverables.

Personal & Professional Growth
This role supports continued professional growth through increased responsibility, technical depth, and independent contribution to project delivery. Designer II professionals further develop their design judgment, coordination skills, and technical proficiency while beginning to take ownership of defined project components and phases.
At Woolpert we place a high value on personal and professional growth, offering various opportunities for development within the architectural team:
  • Team members have access to continuous learning programs, including workshops, seminars, certifications, and participation in professional membership organizations. This allows our interior designers to stay abreast of the latest industry trends and technologies, broaden their expertise, and network with industry peers.
  • Mentorship programs, providing invaluable insights and fostering a culture of knowledge sharing.
  • Career advancement through personalized career path planning and regular performance evaluations, ensuring that each team member's progress is recognized and rewarded.
  • Opportunities to take on new challenges, lead projects, and expand skill sets, further enhancing personal and professional capabilities.

What You Will Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in interior architecture or interior design (or equivalent)
  • 3 years of professional experience in interior design or a related field.
  • Proficiency with design and documentation tools (e.g., Revit, Enscape and Adobe Creative Suite) and demonstrated ability to manage project components independently.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Interest in pursuing interior design licensure and/or relevant certifications.

Benefits You Will Love
