Job description

Alva Freight International is a fast-growing freight forwarding company based in Miami, FL — the gateway to Latin America and beyond. We're looking for a driven, hands-on Operations Manager who knows the freight world inside and out: from docks to warehouses, from customs paperwork to carrier negotiations. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and love making complex logistics run smoothly, this is your role.

What You'll Do

— Oversee end-to-end freight forwarding and NVOCC operations including air, ocean, ground shipments and warehouse services

— Manage warehouse operations: receiving, storage, pick/pack, and outbound shipping

— Coordinate with customs brokers to ensure smooth clearance and compliance

— Supervise and develop a team of logistics coordinators and warehouse staff

— Build and maintain relationships with carriers, vendors, and international partners

— Monitor KPIs, identify bottlenecks, and implement process improvements

— Ensure full compliance with U.S. and international import/export regulations

— Handle escalations, resolve operational issues quickly and professionally

What We're Looking For

Experience

— 5+ years in freight forwarding or international logistics

— Proven experience managing warehouse operations

— Background in shipping (ocean / air / ground)

— Team leadership & supervision experience

Skills & Knowledge

— Expertise in customs regulations & Incoterms

— Proficiency in freight management software (TMS/WMS)

— Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

— Bilingual English/Spanish is a strong plus

Leadership

— Ability to manage, coach, and motivate a team

— Excellent communication across all levels

— High accountability and ownership mindset

Bonus Points

— Experience with Latam freight cargo

— Knowledge of port operations

— IATA or FIATA certification
